Edit: New info down in this post!

Some buddos made an NTR cheat plugin for Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (link in the description of this video: ) and.... it simply won't work for me. The cheat menu appears, but any cheats I select don't do anything when I return to the game.

My 3DS is Old, 11.6, B9S. I've tried NTR CFW v3.3 and 3.6, launched with NTRBoot and NTRBootSelector 2.9, and I've tried it on an installed copy of the game and a cartridge copy, with the proper update patch. I've tried the Mode3 version of NTRBootSelector as well, and the game doesn't launch. The plugin file is in the correct place on my SD card, as evidenced by how the cheat menu does appear.

There's probably some important info I'm forgetting to mention. It's hard to troubleshoot this stuff when I don't even know what the possible causes could be. :P

Quick *bump* just to clarify: I'm not necessarily asking anyone to FIX IT PLZ!, but looking for possible reasons why the cheat plugin might be doing nothing despite showing up properly.

You might have an update of the game installed and the cheat plugin doesn't support it, that's my only guess

It's supposed to support the v2.1.0 update, which I have installed. Maybe there's something off because I'm using a .CIA of the update from one of those sites, instead of one downloaded in-game, but it's a stretch. Thanks anyway.

Most likely the cheats aren't automatically applied. When you enable then, try pressing Y with the cursor over them. MANY cheats has a button combo to turn on/off. Besides that, it could just be that the cheats are bad (wrong cheats).

Okay, here's some more info. I've attached a .rar file with 3 different plugins for the same game, if anyone would like to take a look at the files. The cheat menus all appear, but codes only work from 1 of them. It's not a matter of button-activation like the previous poster suggested, though there are some button-activated codes.

The game is The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (US) v2.1.0, titleID=0004000000176F00. Playing from cartridge and from CIA gives the same results. I've updated to Luma3DS 9.0 and BootNTR Selector 2.10.

And it's not a big deal if anyone helps me get this working or not; mostly just a curiosity that certain plugin files just don't work for no apparent raisin. That, and, I would like to work on developing plugins but this is a bit of a stepping stone. ^_^

Did this start happening after you updated cfw and bootntr selector or did you just try that as a solution?
if i remember correctly. anything besides 3.6 NTR doesn't work with o3rd.

Are you sure it's 3 plugins for the same game and version and not one for each region? If you are getting the cheat menu but none of the codes work, you have either a broken plugin or are using the wrong one. Find one for your region or get a different version of the game if you want cheats.

Same results before and after. I was going to update Luma and BootNTR Selector anyway, hoping it would make a difference.

I mean, I'm quite sure all 3 are for the same game / version / region. They all said (US) on the rar/zip files they came in, and they all came in the same titleID folder. But I'll try the plugins you linked to, and other regions of the game. Thanks for your help. If all else fails I could take a look into the plugins' file format and import codes from the non-working files to the working one...

Hi! I know this is an old thread, but I was just having the exact same problems as you; however, even the EU version doesn’t work for me. Using the NA plugin, the only cheat I could get to work was the Glitchy Collision one. I’m on Luma 9.1, and am using the latest release of BootNTR Selector. I’ve been wanting to get this to work, but I got an idea when you said something about importing codes... which leads to my main point: I was just wondering if you happen to know where to get the source code for the plugins. I was looking at the plugins earlier, and realized I couldn’t really do anything with them due to their formatting. I’m new with the whole plugin scene, and I don’t exactly want to start from scratch and create my own codes for the same cheats.

Thanks so much! (And sorry for reviving an old thread... I’m new to GBATemp—only just made an account to reply to this)

Your problem isn't that the plugin doesn't load, it's that the cheats don't activate, meaning you are almost definitely are just using an outdated plugin! If a plugin for X game is out and it's for version 1.0 for example, once a patch like an 1.1 patch comes out many cheats will no longer work or will cause crashes because the memory addresses have changed, so you have to get an updated plugin every time. Also, even if that's not the case, it's not rare for plugins to have some cheats that don't work depending on where you got them from. Best places to get plugins are www.speedfly.cn and https://github.com/ItsDeidara/MegaNTR/tree/master/Plugins/plugin. First one though is in Chinese while having listed the games by their Japanese names but updates them really quickly, while the second one has plugins for MOST games (including source cheats in .txt format) but hardly ever updates them and a lot of them are outdated because of patches. Also, you can always look for plugins on here since there are many threads that have them if neither of those two work...

I don’t know, the plugin was specifically made for v.2.1.0, which is the version I play.

The reason why I’m so bent on using this one is because a majority of the codes aren’t used in any other plugin for this game. I took a quick look at the links you posted, and they don’t have any of those codes either. Thanks for the (quick) reply though!

Ever considered that the reason they don't have said codes is because those codes aren't working either because of bad addresses or because they got patched out?:P

Hmm, that brings up a good point. Though my problem seems to be similar to OP’s, where it’s just affecting me exclusively for some reason. I know others who are able to use that plugin with no problems, and they using the same methods/cfw that I’m on.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
