Regarding exposed components, I'm going to be applying a thick conformal coating that should keep them safe. PCBWay does offer conformal coating but I want something a little thicker.

okay question... So it's known that switch carts have this film on them so that way if a little kid sticks it in their mouth, it taste terrible. Now this may be weird, but I made it a challenge to lick all my switch game carts. Will the DI have this feature? I really recommend not licking the DragonInjector, so of course I just did it myself so I could explain why.
The Nintendo cart is definitely worse, but the DI is similarly bitter and unpleasant. However, even though it's technically safe once cured, it should be noted that liquid resin is quite toxic.
Buy some lollipops.

I thought the tindie page was the "pre-order" way? Didn't MatinatorX say awhile ago that he was going to get a broad base and see how many he would need by the amounts people confirmed they'd want?Matinator doesn't do pre-orders, backorders, maybe
nah the tindie page was to get an idea of how many people wanted them, 600 have been ordered
To clarify, Tindie is more like a waitlist kind of thing. It lets me know how many people plan to buy one without any money actually being put forward.
Pre-orders are when people put money towards something that is still in the middle of development. I hate the idea of pre-orders.
Backorders are when something has been proven to be finished with development and stock is actually being manufactured. Depending on how many people ask me, backorders might happen soon.
so how do i reserve one officially? and is there a limit on how many? I just wanted 2 for starters.

No it is not a rechargeable battery, no it doesn't charge from the card slot (this was an idea originally but was dismissed due to hardware and software issues.)
The Dragon Injector uses a cr1612 coin battery and will get over 3600 on a single battery.

Can I use a USB-C -> USB adapter to plug it in a normal USB port?
Do it use UF2 format? I have a custom UF2 payload I used before on R4s dongle.

Currently, the dragoninjector payload is a chainloader that will read the payload.bin from inside your sd card.
If you want to change the payload you connect it to pc with an adaptor and wave a magnet over it twice, then the bootdrive will appear on your pc
edit: Afaik the dragoninjector does use a .uf2 file, it should work however you might need to change it to work on the dragoninjector.
I would suggest going to the discord and asking stuckpixel or matinator for more information on getting it to work with the DI

Alot of the images are from the old version 14.
It works from a hall-effect sensor now iirc (new render of the final version)

Sorry about the old v14 pictures, I'll try and get the Tindie page updated this afternoon.
To get the DI to show up on your PC, you just plug it in, using an adapter or a normal Type C port if your PC has one, then wave a magnet over the "R" twice. There's a hall effect sensor that's acting as the reset switch. I'll also be selling branded Type C adapters with the DI for $2 USD. We're working on a way to have the DI detect a host device on boot though, so the magnet might not even be necessary at launch. The DI will know if it's plugged into a Switch or a PC.
As for the UF2, it'll be a little bit different on account of the chip I'm using. The ATSAMD21E16C only has 64kb of flash and 8kb of SRAM. It also has a different model code returned when checked. Because of this, your firmware will need to be recompiled into a new uf2 and be smaller than 56kb (since bootloader is 8kb). It's all Arduino comparable though so it'll be easy to convert. I have all the needed OpenOCD, samd-uf2 and Arduino files modified to work on my GitHub.
For most people though, the default chainloader payload should do all they need
