If you like SNES games as Super Mario All-Stars, Mega Man & Bass, Micromachines, Super Bomberman, Mega Man X3 or others for those game systems, and you want to see in action as Wii VC games, this is the tutorial for you.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unproperly following these instructions and/or unproperly packing the 00000000.app file CAN HARD-BRICK YOUR Wii!!!!!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CREATE CUSTOM Wii VC WADS unless you know what are you doing!!!!!! It's highly recommendable that you have installed in your Wii any brick protection such as BootMii as boot2, or Priiloader!

Here are the steps to inject your game!

----------------------
You can download the tools here: https://gbatemp.net/download/all-in-one-wii-vc-injecting-tools-by-saulfabreg.35917/
Uncompress the ZIP file.

Thank you so much for your tutorials! I've been playing my old wii lately and recently injected a SMB1 rom hack using your NES VC Injection tutorial and it runs perfectly!

P.S. You also accidentally left the phrase "Get your TurboGrafx-16 / PC Engine ROM" instead of "Get your SNES ROM" from your last tutorial in Step 1.

--------------------------------------

mods please delete double post, (my internet lagging) (ill put in a period or a blank space to fill the post so it doesnt take up too much of the thread)

Using another tutorial very similar to yours, i could make all Bomberman from SNES work and even International Super Star Soccer Deluxe. However, Yoshi's island, Mega Man X3, Seiken Densetsu 3, (jap and usa roms) couldnt make them work.
I found a detail, if i inject using Mario's Picross PAL.wad we get a WIDE screen game and faster menus than using the Donkey Kong 2.wad.

In your seventh step you don't explain well what savedata.tpl exactly you are referring too:

"
In 'Source Tpl(s)', click in '...'
Select the savedata.tpl file that you copied to the randomed-name folder
"

I think you are referring to the banner.tpl (which i found in another tutorial and i've been using)

I would like to know how can we take out the manual and the "operations" button from the VC injected game too.

In games like Yoshi's Island, Mega Man X3, StarFox or others, don´t work because these games have code that only can be decoded by special SNES chips, like the Super FX chip (the 3-D module for some cool games like Yoshi's Island, StarFox and Stunt Race FX).

Yes, it was the banner.tpl file. Sorry of my mistake to all. It wasn't savedata.tpl file, it was banner.tpl file.

Sorry to necro this (not THAT old though) but I do believe you could inject Megaman X3 on Megaman X2 official wad. I have tried this, but when trying to inject MX3 into MX2 I get: "No snes rom file found on 00000005.APP"

So I believe if I could find where MX2 is inside the wad, then I could theoratically inject MX3 on it, as they both use the CX4 chip.

Well, Mega Man X2 SNES Wii VC WAD uses LZH8 compression for compress the "Mega Man X2" ROM into the WAD. So, Devilken's VC injector and other injectors can't detect it. They detect the SNES ROM in *.rom format, NOT in *.BIN format, which is renamed for LZH8-compressed SNES ROMs. I also tried to inject Mega Man X3 in Mega Man X2, but I got stuck because the game crashed at Controller screen... :(

I used gzinject_win64 to try to inject Megaman X3 to Megaman X2 wad, it did not work, BUT it extracted "all the files" from MX2 wad, then I extracted the LZH8 files succesfully using lzh8_cmpdec08 and then I followed all other steps to make the wad, but all I end up getting is getting the banner saying Megaman X3 and then when launching the game, it simply launches Megaman X2.

There is probably one step I am missing after decompressing the LZH8 files, but I am not savy enough. My best regards Saulfabre.

Don't use gzinject, @nashismo. Use the LZH8 compressor by @hcs

Hi @SaulFabre. I couldn't get the LZ77 nor the LZH8 to recognize any wad i tried (Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Country 2, Donkey Kong Country 3, Super Metroid). After correctly unpacking, the message was always the same: "ERROR! There isn't any LZXX-compressed ROM file on the 5.app.". As per the tutorial, i ended up using AutoInjectuWAD in the meanwhile, worked fine and the resulting injection is playable.

Known bug?

This is NOT a known bug. My SNES LZ77 & LZH8 iNJECTOR tools doesn't allow earlier SNES VC WADs (such DKC2, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, F-Zero, etc.) For these WADs, please use Auto InjectuWAD or Devilken's VC Injector instead.

Here's a small incomplete list of some WADs of SNES which use LZ77:
  • Secret of Mana
  • Super Mario RPG
  • Kirby's Dream Land 3
  • Super Star Wars
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Ogre Battle
Another small incomplete list of some WADs of SNES which use LZH8:
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Natsume Championship Wrestling
  • Mega Man X
  • Final Fantasy 2
  • Prince of Persia
Greetings ;)

My SNES LZ77 & LZH8 iNJECTOR tools doesn't allow earlier SNES VC WADs (such DKC2, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, F-Zero, etc.) For these WADs, please use Auto InjectuWAD or Devilken's VC Injector instead.

Here's a small incomplete list of some WADs of SNES which use LZ77:
  • Secret of Mana
  • Super Mario RPG
  • Kirby's Dream Land 3
  • Super Star Wars
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Ogre Battle
Another small incomplete list of some WADs of SNES which use LZH8:
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Natsume Championship Wrestling
  • Mega Man X
  • Final Fantasy 2
  • Prince of Persia
Greetings ;)
That's really valuable information not found here in the tutorial. The readme files i have found inside your tools (like N64, and SNES) are the one for the MSX tool, which does not contain the proper info to make it work.

Thanks for the tips and the updated tools. :nds:

hay forma de cambiar el manual del wad para que no sea el original si no el del juego inyectado?
prueba modificando el html.arc o el emanual.arc en el 00000005.app, la descomprimes con el U8 Tool, pero para editarla tendrás que saber sobre código HTML

How do i inject a save icon when using lzh8 compressed wads as a base? HowardC's VCSaveInject5.0 doesn't seem to work when i use a LZH8 compressed WADs as a base. It always says "This is not a valid 00000001.app!". Other WADs that are not LZH8 compressed work. Is there another tool i can use?
