Hello all!

Would anyone be interested in helping me with a website I have started creating solely dedicated to the homebrew/hacking community?

If so, PM me for details.

The website is currently in development and I am a one-man-team. This isn't supposed to be an opponent to any given website, but rather another credible resource for homebrew/hacking tools/resources/tuitorials/questions (including linking to well known credible websites such as hacks(dot)guide) to give the community the most up to date information on homebrew and hacking.

If you think you have any skills that could be valuable to this website/scene (Such as prior forum experience, website coding experience (MySQL, PHP, HTML, CSS, etc.) previous admin/moderator experience, photoshop/design experience), please feel free to shoot me a pm! Don't be shy! I can use almost anyone, and even if you don't think you have a skill that would be useful but are still interested, message me anyways!

Thanks for all the years of help and support GBA Temp

I would also like to add emulation aspects to it maybe? (Citra/Cemu/RCPSX3 Support?)

Also, just got around to reading the rules about no direct messages, so just post a reply here if you're interested

You're describing GBATemp.

Minus game news, I want more of a simple thing. Something people can just go to the homepage and get information they need about what they want without any further digging. Kind of like a combination of sites like gbatemp, hacks guide, ps3xploit.

Dedicated sections for each thing that people want, nothing is pushed as being more important than something else. Right now, I have a forum set up that is the main page and has a dedicated section for whatever you could think of, all layed out in front of you.

When making a website like this, you have to ask yourself: what sets it apart from the others? What does it have to offer that others do not? If you don't fill a need others are not filling, it'll be difficult to attract attention.

GBATemp is a forum, which suits the community needs reasonably well. It's part of the reason why it's still so successful.

Wololo is another example

Again, you are describing GBATemp.

Respectfully, you might want to build up a positive reputation and relationships with others before trying to create a GBATemp-alternative. Nobody knows you, and I don't see what you bring to the table.

Considering you haven't really contributed to the site, it appears you like everything about GBATemp, except the fact that you aren't the administrator.

I suggest contributing to the site more, learning more, building relationships, making suggestions for improvement, and perhaps consider becoming a Patreon member.

I respect GBATemp a lot, it and the community has helped me greatly throughout the years. With that being said, looking for something simple that someone who has never even though about modding their console could go to, look at it and think "wow, this helps me understand everything" isn't very easy to find. I'm referring to dedicated sections that have official well typed out tutorials and explanations on how/what to do in regards to getting into the hacking and homebrew scene.

The idea is to throw up-to-date credible resources and tutorials into one place, instead of going through loads and loads of posts, forums, and blogs to find what they're looking for.

Look at my previous comment, it isn't about being admin or mod, I know what it's like to do that sort of thing and it's hard and difficult. I don't want it to compete, but rather be a resource where people can find good tutorials and information on places like GBATemp, PS3Xploit, hacks guide, Wololo. Instead of having to dig for it and find it, it is all put into one simple place.

Or they could click on a guide here... If it's something you want to do good luck to you but it's going to be a ton of work building tutorials, keeping links and information up to date, and at the same time making it simple and all on the front page. You can come here and click on the section you're interested in, click on tutorials, ask a question, and use the search.

Perhaps make a Discord instead?

That is an option, but again, I'm wanting something that everyone can access, and although a good amount of people use Discord, not everyone does. I'm thinking a simple url, a simple website, stickied posts at the top of every category that has links to reliable and credible resources, along with the general discussion, questions, and user tutorials that make websites like GBATemp and PS3Xploit so great. Kind of like a combination of a bunch of great websites into one.

So you are wanting a website that breaks down and explains each console on a technical level? With guides on modding, emulation, and various other aspect?

It can be difficult to find current information from time to time, so in order to rise to the top, your site would have to be current, thorough, detailed, and intuitively designed. Wololo, PS3Xploit, GBATemp are generally organized by current events. Yours would have to do a bit more.

I'm not even concerned about immediately rising to the top. Though it would be nice, it isn't exactly reasonable to expect this idea to take right off. I understand that it takes a lot of time and effort for something like this to work. My goal with this post isn't even to spread word about it, but more to see the interest level and people in the community that would like something like I'm describing.

That being said, I do have a website, domain, and server that I have already setup and am currently working on, and when I can get a little bit less brain fried from coding and server setup all day, I'll try to write a more detailed and clear description on what exactly it is. It's one of those things that you have the idea in your head, but it's hard to put into words and describe to others. I know the original post almost makes me sound pretentious and like I'm self promoting a competing website on here, but that isn't what I'm trying to do at all.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

What I have setup now is a forum with a category for each system, and a forum dedicated to different aspects of the system (One is modding it, softmod, hardmod, all different options for each system, another is roms and games, game discussion, and another is Homebrew apps/games and game modding.)

Thinking about it, it would be nice to have a website where I could learn all about a console, walking me from beginner to advanced. It's hard to not feel you're not getting the whole picture if you're not in on day one, watching things develop. From the basic overview to the extremely technical. Though I suspect you already have your own ideas about things. Good luck!

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, I'm running on not a lot of sleep.

I am making a site that has the simplicity and usefulness of hacks.guide, but is more thorough and has a community, a combination of sort.

The simpleness and usefulness of a website such as hacks.guide, but has a community around it like PS3Xploit, GBATemp, and Wololo, (Sites I can think of off the top of my head.)

A website that has tutorials and is simple like hacks.guide, but has community questions, solutions, forums, and also user written tutorials.

The website part is as describe before, simple like hacks.guide (useful for people who aren't interested in the community aspect of it, but instead are just interested in the modification of their system/device)

The forum has the same amount of usefulness. Stickied on each category is information comparable to the content on the website, but with a more people-based support system.

Tutorials, Problems/Solutions, questions, and other things of such that you'd find in a homebrew-based forum (Just with the added simpleness)

Thanks! Like I said, everything's kind of blurry when I try to explain it, but as I develop more and hopefully can get some others in on it, things will start to show how I'm intending it to.

Something else I forgot to mention is linking to the other sites I have mentioned. It's not a closed community, but instead, almost like setting people up and introducing others into communities like this one. Almost like a one stop shop, where you can find all the details and resources for getting into communities like the ones I've mentioned.

Hey guys, I have an idea and no skills. I want someone to make my idea for me and let me take the credit for it.

http://www.howo.cf/

It's not about someone making the idea for me, read what I commented.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I've hacked my psp, gamecube, wii, ps3, x360, 3ds, vita, wiiu, and switch all using this site.

Id say this site is well enough organized to get what ya need done.

Me personally (And a few irl friends) used different websites essentially for each console.

I used PS3Xploit for my ps3, wololo and youtube for my vita, I don't even remember what I used for my wii or wii U, but I know that for my Wii I ended using a whole cluster of websites to get it set up to install wads and running usb loader gx and such.
