I have a Japanese Wii U, and I’d like to be able to play US region WiiWare games. The WADs install fine, but vWii tells me the game can’t be played, which I assume is because it’s a different region.

Is there any way around this? AFAIK you can’t use Priiloader on vWii, and I don’t know what other options there are.

Okay, I figured it out. I used something called Showmewads to change it to region free. But every game I install automatically asks for parental lock PIN, even though on the Wii U parental lock controls everything is set to off.

On the WAD installer is an option to set age restriction, but no matter how I set it the game always asks for a PIN.

Is there any way to avoid this?

I don't remember any age restriction on any wad installer.

it asks at installation time? or at launch time?
which installer do you use? I alsways recommend this one: https://github.com/FIX94/Some-YAWMM-Mod/releases

That's the first time I read about this issue. maybe the wiiu parental lock is not affecting vWii mode? I really don't know, I never locked mine.
what you could do instead is maybe use emuNAND? You'll have a lot more space for your wads (up to 2TB instead of 512MB), but not all games are working. the advantage is that you can make different NAND region (usa for usa games, eur for eur games, etc.)
some games will require neek to work correctly, which is not that hard, but can feel complicated to setup. lot of users prefer installing to vWii NAND instead.

That's the wad installer I'm using. Age restriction is one of the options, but choosing yes or no for "pass" makes no difference.

How do I set up a neek of a different region on vWii? I haven't been able to find instructions.

loaders don't launch wads, except hermes old loader. nobody uses it anymore.

before wanting to use neek, try to make a dump of your vWii nand, and install/launch from it.

usbgx > settings > features > dump nand > full
usbgx > settings > features > install wad
main window > top menu > 4th icon > emuNAND

have you tried launching the wad through a loader?

I can launch it with WiiFlow, and that bypasses the PIN somehow, but WiiFlow has a few compatibility issues, so I use CFG which seems to launch everything. However I can't figure out how to get CFG to list what's installed as a channel.
