I have Homebrew Launcher on the main menu and Haxchi and Mocha folders in my sd card root/wiiu/apps folder. I also have a Haxchi folder on the root of my sd card with the config file containing "a=fw.img default=wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf" I also have a cbhc folder on the root of my sd card. My system currently boots right to the system menu even though the Haxchi folder config file default says homebrew_launcher.elf. What do I have to do to get my Wii U to automatically launch Mocha at boot (and then go to main Wii U menu) so I don't have to go into Homebrew Launcher and then run Mocha every time before I play a game (so non-legit DLC will work)? Or if Mocha is not needed for DLC how do I get my Wii U to boot so that DLC will work automatically? It's been a while since I originally hacked my Wii U and I forget what I all did and don't want to brick. Thank you for your help!

There is no autoboot Mocha. There is only autoboot Haxchi aka Coldboot Haxchi.

https://gbatemp.net/threads/cbhc-v1-6-coldboot-haxchi-cfw.452615/

Beware, there's a chance of brick if you screw something up. But for the most part as long as you don't do something stupid like delete the icon that tells you "DONT TOUCH ME" you'll be fine.

p.s. you can enter the icon that says "DONT TOUCH ME" and use it to access homebrew and diferent things, just don't delete it from system settings or try to move it to your usb drive.

I have a file in my cbhb folder called Title, that when I open it in notepad says "DONT TOUCH ME". but I don't have an icon on my wii U menu anywhere that says DONT TOUCH ME. so I don't know what's going on with that

Did you go to the thread I linked and have you installed CBHC? It has to be installed. You have to have Haxchi first (like you said you do, by purchasing a legit DS game) then you installed CBHC over Haxchi. You're not going to have that DONT TOUCH ME icon until you install CBHC.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Make sure you thread through that thread thoroughly before you install CBHC. The main thing is when you install CBHC you need to unplug your hard drive.

Yes I did install Haxchi and CBHC. I think I somehow hid the DONT TOUCH ME icon from the wii U menu. like i said, it's been years since i originally hacked my wii U, so i don't remember what I all did

When you boot the Wii U does it say "Autobooting" ?

What may have happened is you updated (it can even happen without you knowing it if you didn't turn off auto updates in settings) and lost CBHC, and need to reinstall it if you don't have that icon but look first.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

What firmware version does it say your Wii U is? Look in system settings.

No i don't see Autobooting, it just says Wii U, and then goes into the main menu. I think that the Wii U has installed a system update or two since I set up CBHC. I'll double check again for the icon. My original VC eshop title does not show up, so how do I reinstall CBHC? Or the VC eshop title will still be listed when installing CBHC even though the icon does not show up?

What firmware version does it say your Wii U is? Look in system settings. If it's 99.99.99 you have CBHC. IF it's 5.5.something you do not and need to reinstall it.

If it's 5.5.something you need to go into homebrew launcher, run CBHC and reinstall it. Just make sure you still have the DS game you purchased for Haxchi.

If your original DS game with Haxchi isn't anywhere you need to try to redownload it from eshop. If you can't, then IDK how to help you. I don't know how it would be gone unless you deleted it.

I have system menu 5.5.3. I have a Homebrew Launcher icon on my main menu. I just checked and have no DS game icon and no DONT TOUCH THIS icon on my main menu.

Your only option is try to redownload the ds game from eshop, then install Haxchi over it, then install CBHC over it.

If for some reason you cannot download it from eshop you will brick if you try to reinstall CBHC. So you just will have run CFW every time on your own and cannot use CBHC. Again I don't understand how that DS game is missing unless you deleted it. It doesn't just vanish into thin air. Your system updated you, but it doesn't delete the DS game it should still be there unless YOU deleted it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

You need to look through every screen every folder and make sure that ds game isn't there, and check in system settings. If it is gone it should let you redownload it in the eshop. The only way it should say you can't redownload it in the eshop is because you already have it.

It's no longer listed on the eshop for purchase. I'm wondering if something happened like in this thread? Haxchi shows up on the internal system storage when i go into settings, and I have a usb drive plugged in. seems like the wii prioritizes the usb drive contents over the internal memory contents. https://gbatemp.net/threads/what-happens-when-you-launch-chbcs-dont-touch-tile.481591/

Umm that thread just asks what happens when you launch cbhc dont touch me it has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!

It sounds like you moved Haxchi to your usb drive which you were not supposed to do, you're lucky you didn't brick.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

In my opinion your knowledge of hacking is not good enough to use CBHC you should stick to what's working right now. You're going to end up with a bricked Wii U. I think the only reason your Wii U isn't already bricked is the Wii U updated and removed CBHC for you and saved you.

if you read more than just the title of the thread, you would have seen the posts talking about people having their VC title renamed and moved etc. which does have to do with this indeed.

like i said, i have a cbhc folder on the root of my sd card with files in it, one of which is a file named Title, which when opened says DONT TOUCH THIS. so i'm thinking it's somehow hidden on the sd card. not worth messing around with it with a chance of bricking. having to go into homebrew launcher first and then run mocha is inconvenient, yet a very small inconvenience for getting dozens of games for free.

Just a note worth mentioning. If you have haxchi installed, you don't need mocha. Reason being, haxchi includes sigpatches, so you can run anything with just plain old haxchi. Mocha is just for those who were too cheap poor to buy a DS game from the eShop.

i thought i had haxchi installed because i have a folder called haxchi on my sd card. i have bought a DS game and gone through all of that to install it a few years back. in order for non legit DLC to work for some reason i have to go into homebrew launcher and run mocha. maybe i have to reinstall haxchi then? i can run games through my usb drive without running mocha they just wont work without it if they have DLC. like i said above, i cant find my DS game anywhere. maybe it is masked as my permanent homebrew launcher icon on my main menu?

If I recall correctly, running the Haxchi installer will list the available installed DS games that can be exploited. Try it and see if it detects it. If it does, install Haxchi and see how it goes. Worse thing that could happen is installing Haxchi over a pirated DS game. In that case, Haxchi would just not work. No big problem, just redownload the game you bought from the eShop. Don't mess with CBHC yet (if that was your plan). Fix up Haxchi first. Once you got it working properly, you should have system menu displayed as 99.99.99 instead of 5.0.x. If you see that, your sigpatches are working, and you can launch any games with DLC. No need for Mocha.

Edit: Your Homebrew Channel Icon could be Haxchi, indeed. That icon was used by some installer, way back. The original config.txt for Haxchi is defaulting to launching the Homebrew Channel:

a=fw.img
b=sysmenu
default=wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf

Try to modify it so that default is sysmenu, and b is Homebrew_launcher.elf. Then re-install Haxchi. That way, just tapping the icon will load your sigpatches.

thank you thank you thank you Dust2dust! this worked! now i just click the homebrew launcher icon on the main menu and i can play my games with DLC. now is there any way to have the Wii U automatically load haxchi so i dont even have to click the Homebrew launcher icon to launch it? if not that's fine as i know I'm being nitpicky.

Yes, of course. This is what CBHC was designed for. It automatically launches Haxchi when you boot your console, so you don't even have to tap the icon to load the sigpatches. But be aware that there is always a brick risk involved when you use CBHC. Read about it first, and make your decision if it's worth the risk involved. Most people never had problems, but just a little user error could screw up your console. Personnally, I just use haxchi by itself. Just tap the icon once after booting, then go on gaming. :D

It is just a VERY minor inconvenience to have to tap the icon before starting to play games, and I don't want to take any chance at bricking and losing all the work I've put into setting up my Wii U, so I think I'll do the same as you and just spend a few seconds and tap the icon :). thank you so much for your help!!!
