- Go through the installation process. Be patient !
- Once installation is done and two to three restarts of the virtual machine completed, you will have a nice soundless, 16 colors, 640*480 desktop. Haaa, good times.

So basically you booted, got through few installation steps then black screen after formatting...So the ISO seems good.

What size is your W98.img ? I put 4Go, that was enough.
Reduce the allocated RAM from 512 to 128 and tell me what happens.

Well I just found my next thing to try when I have some free time! Great work!

You're welcome.
Come back here to share what game you tried :)
It can even be Excel97, I won't judge you (it had a nice flight simulator though).

I used this one W98 second edition in french from there:
http://www.le-grenier-informatique....s-du-grenier/les-systemes-os-microsoft-1.html
https://mega.nz/#!0IYwhSTR!N956YWFbQsr2ahmbwy4sd90rA3xAVMZmpMiwbkEOhAc

Something that should help you, add the qcow2 argument when creating the img, full tutorial here:
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/QEMU/Windows_98

Besides, I use a 32Gb SANDISK memory card. I hope not, but the MC you use could be related to your format problem.
We don't have a lot of feedback on this project :)

I did it!! But with help by... PS4! I install arch Linux, and install Qemu, and then make W98.img (I asked you upload yours for me))) and then I follow your instructions for Switch. Win 98 installed, and I successfully install Starcraft. Grab my SD for switch and connect to the PS4 and copy on this SD W98.img with installed win 98 and Starcraft by Quemu for PS4!))) Back my SD card to switch and run Quemu, and it’s works! But stay last problem, Starcraft won’t run - need drivers for VGA card with 256 colors, I have only 16 color drivers. How can I make install drivers for qemu’s VGA card with 256 colors for run Starcraft anyway!))

Sorry, I didn't had time to upload such a big image file.
Using PS4 ? Dang, well done !

You're almost there.
The VGA drivers you need are linked in my post and in the wiki I sent you.

- your OS should have drivers for you sound card (I didn't cause I didn't use the -soundhx 16 argument while installing, I had to find them on my own)
- your video drivers are here: http://www.bearwindows.boot-land.net/vbe9x.htm

Put both drivers in an ISO using the mkisofs command, Launch W98 and install your stuff.
Once you have sound and 256 gorgeous colors on screen, just insert the same way your Starcraft ISO.
Don't forget to install DirectX5, it has nice visual effects.

Enjoy ! :)
I hope this is the last question from me))
From here http://www.bearwindows.boot-land.net/vbe9xru.htm download last driver at Release version beta
02.14.2014?
Where get audio drivers? (i heard - sound seems works an without this))
And need to find direct x5 and all of this throw to .iso?

It works, but laggy in full screen - in window mode all ok in 256 colors. I try to install direct x5 - system tell: you have installed DX6 later)))

CONGRRRRRRATULATIONSSSSSS

You've come a long way baby.
To make the game more enjoyable, I modified the Joycon configuration, the file is in the thread.

Hi gamers :),

Well, sorry for the quality of the video.
Since the N64 version runs like ***, I tried something different:

It runs well (20~25, playable enough) on W98SE using Qemu on L4T.
I set processor OC on performance but frankly, I don't see any difference.

Button mapping via Xorg works but always crash after some time, leaving me with the mouse controls only (which sucks, no attack move nor camera control...).

Cheers

Can you try HOMM3 (Heroes of Might and Magic 3) and see how well that plays on your Win98 QEMU? Also does the touch screen still work?

I know no one gives a shoot, but DUNGEON KEEPER runs like a charm !
I'll try to post the video tomorrow.

Now I can rule my dungeon from anywhere

Edit: Another ugly video

Again, more playable than it seems, I just lack a third arm.

Are you using DOSBox for Dungeon Keeper or QEMU?

Heroes 3 ?
Oh my, why didn't I tried it sooner ?! I'll see what I can do, but I don't think it should be too problematic.

Yes, touchscreen works.

For Dungeon keeper, I used QEMU, it is installed on W98 and runs pretty well.

Big thanks for you!

You're welcome.

Thinking about it, the joycon pairing is what I hate the most about L4T (redoing it after every reboot).
The Switch lite won't have bluetooth contraptions, which will make L4T the experience waaaay better :)

I know it won't have RCM access but, well...Life always find a way :mthr:

So I looked into this for the past few days, have you tried QEMU-i386 as a binary translator + Wine? Or have you heard of Exagear? I'm going to try these approaches out and give you an update once I've made some progress.

En Taro Tassadar!

Next, I'll try a few C&Cs and dungeon keeper, well, who wouldn't ?
I try to run Diablo2 - get error 22 direct draw. Upgrade to DX 7a from Diablo disk - not working(( May be need new video drivers?
[SOLVED] It's works! But only in window mode. I add "-w" in path of launcher))

Sorry, I missed your post.
I never heard of Exagear but your idea to couple Qemu+wine seems interesting. I have no idea how it would work. It sure would be better than running a full dedicated OS.

Feel free to share your discoveries !

Lol, you aren't the type to give up easily, are you ?
That's wonderful news, along with Diablo 1 natively running, Diablo 2 will be welcome as well !

Maybe Tiberian sun would run better in windowed mode, I should try it.

Could you guys please continue sharing videos? I'm intrigued about the performances, Fallout is still slow on my side :/

So I've searched around for copies of Exagear but unfortunately just a few months ago they stopped supporting the app and the desktop version still needs license verification. I've not had any experience with QEMU, if you can attempt the theory of using qemu as an i386 binary translator using QEMU as the interpreter to run wine, to run x86 applications that would be sweet! I'm a newbie to Linux, L4T Ubuntu being my first UNIX based operating system, but I'll take a dig at it.

However, I did receive some instructions, I just don't really know how to facilitate such a thing.

"The easiest way to run Wine on ARM would probably be to chroot into a full install of some i386 distro with static qemu (see "chrooting into target filesystems) and run wine from there (you could use multistrap or debootstrap for Debian)"

and

"qemu-debootstrap is what you want
https://wiki.debian.org/EmDebian/CrossDebootstrap
qemu-debootstrap --arch i386 stretch debian_stretch http://deb.debian.org/debian/
or something like that
or just rip the files from an i386 debian install"

There's another approach that I just found out called PCem which is a win95 emulator and the latest revision has experimental ARM support. It also has GPU support so 3d games are possible. Going to give it a go today, if I don't get satisfactory results, I'll put some effort into the QEMU+multistraping thing.
