I am consufed why we can't play online with xci, isn't it just a dump of a gamecard which doesn't contain any switch specific thingamabobs?
So if we use sx os to mount xci's and then update using eshop shouldn't it work?
That is ofcourse blank sx os isn't detectable.
But what is somebody makes a writable gamecard, shouldn't game distribution work with online?

I wondered on this and thought it may work but got banned swiftly after.
However, I was using custom xcis so not sure if that made a difference.
It's probably something to do with having a fake cert embedded in the xci or something.

Even if nothing else (SX, emulation, ...) wouldn’t trigger Nintendo if multiple users start playing the same game cartridge at once (same cloned cartridge certificate) they will be banned.

It doesn't matter how legit looking you make your xci's/emulated cartridges, without a legit header they will never pass the online check through Nintendo servers, and as long as they don't you won't be able to play online. It doesn't mean you will necessary get banned, since It's been like 6 months and I still haven't been banned, but you won't be able to play online with pirated XCIs.

You can extract a legit header from a legit cartridge dump and import it on to a pirated XCI which will let you play online, but I'm not sure for how long, since public headers have been blocked in a matter of days. Your own header(from a game you purchased) might go unnoticed or let you play more time, heaven't tried yet, since there are no games I was really excited about to get me to buy them.

I took xci dumps with the original cert from my cartridges (Mario Kart&Tennis) and played them in sxos online, that was bevor they introduced payed service but it worked fine, I'm also not banned.

I think that:

1 - when you use an NSP (files provided by the store) online, nintendo cheks for the authenticity of your purchase, if this purchase it isn't associated with your profile ID, its a direct flag.

2 - XCI doesn't get checked for this proof of purchase because it isn't a "digital" version.
However each game cartridge, where we rip the XCIs from, has a unique ID, a key.
This key gets checked when trying to play online, if several players get detected using the same key its a flag, but not so direct since one of them might be the real owner.
So, if very few repetitions of this ID are caught, i think they might leave it be untill further inspection, if a lot are caught, that's an instant ban wave.
If there is no unique ID, that can be a direct flag and instant banning.

All this checks for authenticity, flags and banning are processed automatically.

do not go online while in CFW mode
it doesnt matter if youre using your own cert

it keeps getting repeated and repeated, but because it is not the answer some people want to hear they ask again or do it and get banned.

Mods can we please get it stickied in large RED FLASHING text at the top of every page something like:

DO NOT GO ONLINE WHEN USING ANY CFW

maybe then the noobs will get the message.

Dude calm down, i completely forgot to take into account what would happen if mulitple people game cards at once.
And isn't atmosphere meant to be completely clean if not homebrew or nsp's are loaded?

one of my switch plays all day homebew in cfw and i play .xci in cfw and no ban atm and the switch is a xaj7001xxxxxxx

atm i do allways that me error report are empty if i start a .xci and play it online. in sxos
u need a card v1/v2 cert ect... and pack it in the right way, and u get no ban!!!
be sure if u use a Captom cert then u use this cert only for captom games!!
and start never a game without a cert
and start never a downloaded game. only if u know how to mod it to legit. (to change the gamecard cert is not enough)

i have 1 switch banned thats about atmosphere it is 100% unsafe to do any with install or a nsp.

u need a .xci (without DLC) if u have not buy it... or u are also flaged

Did you use the cert on multiple games, and how long has it been ?

No, i only played xci´s i own as a cartrige so they all had their own unique cert. As i wrote, i stoppped playing online the moment Nintendo introduced payed service, but before that i played half a year that way and no bann, also i´m not banned yet so there was no flag or smth like that for a banwave.

Do you believe that people at Nintendo are complete idiots who won’t see that your logs have been deleted? That alone might flag you for a ban. Only thing I’d partially believe to be safe if you used XCIs with your own certificate which you dumped from your own cartridge. Otherwise if more people use the same certificate, if you use an invalid certificate not issued by Nintendo, if you clear Logs or disable telemetry - all these things are visible on Nintendo’s side and they can decide to ban you. Be glad they didn’t do that yet and prey they won’t.

Yes deleting logs are a viable way to get banned. It's been proven as well. Nintendo log a TON of data. However, I yet to see a person that have opt-out to be banned from telemetry info sent to Nintendo. Since GDPR we can disable them to collect data from us.

But GDPR only applies to the EU, doesn´t it?

Disabling the whole telemetry and limiting it due to GDPR may produce different results detectable by Nintendo. Only safe way to play backups is offline.

Yeah, I think only EU accounts (not stopping you to make one ;)).

No problem for me here in austria, but i can imagine that it´s not THAT easy because lets say for example you logg in with an US ip to an US Nintendo server it doesn´t matter if you´re using an EU or Asia account etc you are in the US so their laws apply.
When i travel to amerika they are allowed to take my personal infos, fingerprints, etc so i believe GDPR really only applies if you are "physical" in the EU. But don´t quote me on that just spitting out some thoughts :)

i think not, i have reseted the switch so all errors are gone, and from this point on i was never online with a error in the logs, they see only i have reseted the switch and the error log is allways clear. and not more.

its also from nintendo proven that it reset the switch fully legit also and now u need only to delet it all the time, or reset the switch after a error, and that all is no problem because u can "MOUNT" a XCI and the switch is again rdy in 5 min. and u can download the saves

a cleared XCI with nscb with update and without .tik "only"inject gamecard-cert . is working 100% for me since release!
but yes u need a "suitable" gamecard-cert
