Hello everyone, I have a ScanDisk ultra 200gb sdxc microsd card. I use the guiformat application to change it to fat32. while successful my New 3ds wont detect it. The 3DS has Lumia version 10 but on a 4gb microsd card that's fat format. I tried passing the files and folders from the 4gb to the 200gb after formatting it with guiformat. Yet once I place the 200gb in the sdcard slot, and I try to boot up lumia holding start and power or power up the 3ds wont power up. Just gives me a blink blue light but nothing else. Although the sd card works on the pc, is it a compatibility issue with 3DS? maybe i need a different brand?.

Thanks in advance.

(1) Quadruple reformat
(2) full Write + Verify the empty card with H2testw
  • Lots of fake SD cards out there. Don't skip testing unless you don't care about being scammed.

Edit - Forgot to add. See cluster size choice for 128 GB and larger capacity SD cards.

This is the result of the H2 test. guess my card is not compatible with the 3ds.

Ok update, after running the h2 test, i went back to guiformat. But this time left the allocation at 32 instead of 6x. Pass the files from the 4gb that worked. Now it detects the 200gb with no problems. no idea if the allocation was my issue.

H2testw is just to check if your card's fake or has hardware fault. You did things out of order and skipped reformatting with all four (4) programs.

Using the incorrect reformatting settings will cause the card to be incompatible with the 3DS. It's not just the cluster/allocation size.

Edit - You don't need to rerun H2testw since it passed. You may choose to use 64 KB cluster size depending if GBA VC games and full 10 home menu themes shuffle works or not.
