grab the mymenuify mod here its a much safer way to install themes

some people installed the colored themes on vwii but its a little tricky mymenuify doesn't work so have to be installed manually there is a thread here about it
as for your wii with no way to load in to HBC i'm afraid only a hard mod backup can fix it unless someone knows better than me

Hi - according to Cyan https://gbatemp.net/threads/black-s...and-any-other-usb-loader.513025/#post-8192570 installing a theme might have caused an issue on my Wii and mentioned to ask in this thread.
I used ModMii and selected themes to be installed.

Settings are now not available. I am presented with a screen mentioning I tried to access address marc:EA/EU/DUT/index01.html.

Error seems to be caused by incorrect region setting so tried to change it with AnyRegion changer - unfortunately that doesn't work. See error message in Quote:

Trying to identify as System Menu... FAILURE
ES_Identify function returned Error: -1029
since i can't identify myself as the system menu, I can't modify your wii's region settings.

All of ModMii themes have been tested extensively. Did you manually download one and perhaps choose one for a different system menu? In any case, u should be able to fix the issue by reinstalling the stock theme and/or reinstalling the appropriate system menu and reinstalling priiloader afterwards. Do not mess with any region changer without knowing what you're doing, it is dangerous.

Speaking of stock theme, is there a CSM mirror for that? Cuz I can't find that anywhere. I wanna use that in case a theme I install causes some problems.

No - don't think so I just followed the ModMii guide. To be honest that doesn't mean I didn't mess something up. The initial setup might not have been very 'clean' as well and I don't have a lot of experience softmodding a wii.

Will reinstall the stock theme, system menu and priiloader and will report back. Thanks again!

Used this youtube tutorial to downgrade to 4.1 E

Everything seems to be fine now, can select the settings menu again and it shows Ver. 4.1.E again

Still not sure why guides are mentioning to start with version 4.3 if that causes troubles but okay..

I'm glad you could fix your issue

following old youtube tutorial is not the best idea. if, for example, it didn't tell you to install the corresponding IOS slot first (IOS60/70/80), you could be in a worst situation. (it's not the case in that video, it properly tells you to install IOS60 before (re)installing the system menu 4.1)
I guess if you followed modmii in the past, you already had all the system menu IOS slot available to prevent such a situation.

Though, it does inappropriate things, like replacing IOS34 (why?), probably shows how bad that user knows the wii and how bad you could have ended following a video before asking if it was fine to do.
it also reinstall 4.3, to just replace it with 4.1 .... why ? same reason. he doesn't understand what he is doing, and think it's the way to do, and tell people dangerous things.
NEVER ever follow a random youtube tutorial for hacking. Ask first if it's a good one!

4.1 was recommended because 4.2 only added anti-modchip functions (blocking region free with modchip and burned disc for example), and maybe the system menu exploits (banner bomb) is patched in 4.3, but timebomb and flashhax now both work fine with 4.3.
I think there's no real reason to be on 4.1, there's no differences in 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 features wise.
as long as it works, It's fine.

What I'd suggest now is to use modmii again to re softmod it properly, and be sure you get proper version of everything.

Yeah, I know there is a risk but best thing about them is that you can follow every step. I am pretty bad in following text guides and if in doubt I am not very patient and like to take risks.. exactly the reason my Wii was in the state it was in.

Worst thing that can happen is brick it and then need to buy a 'new' one. I know that is a possible outcome of any 'mod/hack'. If it happens I will take full responsibility and will never blame a guide or any dev.

I tried upgrading first to 4.3 through official channels and that wasn't successful - after some theme change the firmware was still 4.1 while the system menu was 4.3
To solve this inconsistency I needed to downgrade.

Iirc you can just reinstall the entire system menu .app file, that's what works for me.

Ok do I have this right? All 3 of these do the same thing right? So I just need to pick one and use it to create my csm? Cuz so far I’m using ThemeMii cuz it seems to be the easiest. I get an mym from here and ThemeMii does the rest? Cuz I created a csm with it and am soooo paranoid to try and install it. I got Bootmii and Priiloader all setup and working fine just really wanna avoid a brick

Yes use thememii just like you said
You will be fine even if you get a brick just boot in to HBC from priiloader or bootmii then load mymenuify and install your base app to return to stock or install a theme you have tried before and know it works

thanks did it. Very scary cuz it takes a bit longer to load and I was staring at a black screen for way too long. I was like great brick lol how do I install base app? I don’t find that. First theme I did was Street Fighter Love it!!!!!!
