So I have been trying to get my pokemon moon randomizer to work, and I don't understand why it isn't working.

Here are the paths.

luma\titles\0004000000175E00\romfs\a (and so on)
luma\titles\0004000000175E00\code.bin

Everytime I try to start pokemon moon, I get An exception occurred error message. I have re-checked and re-checked and everything seems to be correct.

Did you make sure that you enabled game patching in the luma menu?

Pretty sure it has more to do with what people are randomizing, how they are repacking, and how they are using LayeredFS vs the program itself. I too see these problems frequently and it's almost always with people that have never used these programs before. Personally, I play 3 randomized Pokemon games on my B9S console (X, Alpha Sapphire, Moon). AS and X are rebuilt CIA files, and I run SaltySD with Moon. I have yet to experience any of these crashes nor have people I know to be seasoned in extracting/repacking games or using layeredFS; specifically with Pokemon.

I honestly don't know why people are having so much trouble with these things. I haven't tried Lumas LayeredFS myself but I heard it works great. Another option is using OnionFS if Luma, SaltySD, NTR AND rebuilding a CIA doesn't work.

OP remember, if your game is updated to v1.2 you MUST be using a code.bin from that update, not the full game (a potential crash reason). Also, double check you have no old exdata for that game and delete it in system settings or FBI. These errors have been reported on Luma's Github many times yet have not been able to be reproduced by the developers so most were closed.

I agree 100%. Luma's layeredfs, imo, works better than OnionFS and NTR because you don't have to launch BootNTR every time you want to play whatever ROM hack you're using. I've never once had an issue with a SuMo randomizer using any of the methods mentioned.

i know this post is old but didnt want to make a new one. if anybody can maybe give me a reason as to why my ultra moon isnt "randomized" as i guess you would put it.
i followed a guide n im pretty good with cfw and homebrew although ive never done a randomize before.
i simply rebuilt my ultra moon .cia file with fbi.bat which prepares it for FBI and set all the settings for the game with pk3ds.exe and then it rebuilt the file again into random.cia
the game loaded and installed on my n3dsxl fine and i knew it worked because when i opened it, my save file was gone and it was a new game.
so i used checkpoint to load my old file into this game and im running around the places i set to be randomized with event legendaries i believe and im only just running into normal pokemon for the area.
what am i doing wrong here???
