Hello,

I haven't used my New 3DS XL in a while and I saw that there was a new update for the 3DS. After I updated the system, it immediately booted to a black screen with red letters saying "An error has occurred: Faied to apply 1 FIRM patch(es). Press any button to shutdown." I am not sure if the update broke my system or it patched anything. When Luma boots up, I can still see the splashscreen and I can still access GodMode9. Could someone please help me fix this? Thanks.

Update to the latest version of Luma. Super easy, just throw the file onto your SD card and you'll be good to go. Extract this and copy the file inside, boot.firm, to SD: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases/download/v9.1/Luma3DSv9.1.7z
Thank you. Will try it out and see if it works now.

It works, but my splash screen is no longer appearing. How can I restore the original splash screen I had? Or do I have to download it manually again?

I don't use custom splash screens, so I don't really know. Can't help with that. Glad you're up and booting again, though.

Not in front of a 3DS at the moment, but sounds like you just came from a super old version. Try holding SELECT (i think) when booting to bring up the Luma menu, somewhere in there I remember seeing the splash screen and there's options where to show it. By default I think it's none.

I could be wrong on the exact directions since I don't have my 3DS in front of me, but hopefully that's enough. Splash screens I think are in .bin format in the luma folder.

Hi everyone,
Still very new at this. Lately I’ve been trying to play some game and keep getting this error either on start up of the game or just after it’s loaded a little bit? Can anyone help me out?

Do you happen to have "Game patching" active in Luma? Some games just refuse to work with it on.

Hold Select + power button, and the luma config menu should appear.
From there on you can choose to enable/disable game patching, afterwards press start to save your config.
You guys are actually the most helpful group of people. Ok so I updated a while ago and have just opened to this menu because I didn’t know I had to do this lol So I should just select enable game patching? Should I select anything else?

Uncheck Game Patching, also enable Clock+L2, games load much faster and I never had issues doing that. I see you got a C-stick therefore you got a New 3DS ;)
See if it works for you then :) Also you might need to reinstall the game incase it keep crashing.

With Internet connection,
  • FBI → Titles → Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D → Import Seed

If your n3DSXL has a 3DS firmware doesn't match region with the game, you'll need do adjust with Locale Emulation. Enabling the game patching does nothing by itself unless you provide the patch.

Luma3DS v9.1 configuration
  • (x) Enable game patching
Put the text file with the written code at:
  • sdmc:/luma/titles/00040000000CCF00/locale.txt
  • Code:
    EUR EN

You could try to find a version of the game that matches with your consoles region,do as @TurdPooCharger stated above or, if to make things simpler get the luma locale switcher app from here
This way you don't have to manually copy text files over to your SD card. The app does the job. (make sure enable game patching is on)
Scan the QR code with FBI btw

Hey guys, Thanks so much. It actually turned out that a whole bunch of my games were corrupt and my SD card ended up failing. Basically all my games disappeared from my main screen and I was getting error 007-0200 when trying to go to the eshop. So i went to SD card managment and deleted the games with a ? but still couldnt get anything to work so I just got a new SD card.
Are you able to give any advise on how to do this with a new SD card? Do I just drag and drop everything that was on the old one and it should work fine? I dont want to brick it :(

Before you start using your replacement SD card, copy everything on it over to a computer, reformat in FAT32 + 32 KB cluster size with Windows File Explorer or guiformat (if bigger than 32 GB), and full Write + Verify the empty card with H2testw. Do not trust the card until it has passed hardware inspection.

Your chance at recovering your stuff is low when it comes to corrupted data. You can try anyhow with this guide:
The gm9 script, CTRTransfer (Type D9), has Rebuild 3DS Database (Full) and (Manual) options that can help automate rebuilding titles back into CIAs if they're intact and extract their save files. Restoring the saves may or may not work depending if they've been afflicted.

Reinstalled games with restored saves + extdata that are still intact should afterwards be properly backed up with Checkpoint or JKSM.

Thanks so much, Im not concerned about restoring the games or saves thats no biggie to me. I just want to make sure that im putting the right things back on the SD card.
I checked the SD card and its passed the tests
Ive put the boot.firm back on and its launching fine but do I also drag everything else over?
Sorry if this sounds so dumb have no idea what im doing and jsut want it to go back to being able to put games on there and play with no issue lol

Here's a CFW starter kit as reference and if you're not sure what to collect.
If you want a minimum setup, pull out only the folders and files as specified by 3ds.hacks.guide. When you're more comfortable knowing what homebrew apps you like, you can individually add them to your card.
