I feel like I love Pokémon too much to not buy it. Though I do feel like Game Freak are quite a lazy company when it comes down to it. The game should look a lot better in graphical detail than it does, they literally contradict themselves to reasonings of why Pokémon are cut. THEY USE THE SAME ANIMATIONS FROM SINCE XY for Pokémon, Battle Revolution had better animations! Yet apparently they're adding more detail by cutting other Pokémon, where???

Though it's true graphics don't make a game I feel like the company tries to cut corners too often, especially now that they're trying to cut Pokémon out. I expected so much more from a true switch Pokémon title graphically and by giving Pokémon more movement than just an idle pose. At the end of the day though, I know I'd still buy it or well, in this instance I won't have to in order to play it.
battle revolution, pokemon stadium and even colosseum and XD all had way better animations than any mainline pokemon game lol, and now pokemon GO has more catchable pokemons than the next mainline pokemon game lol.

Exactly I watched a guys video pointing these things out and it's like damn, they're really just lazy and there's no excuse for such a large franchise to not be able to create better content if not hire in more staff to fill time constraints. Their yearly releases probably don't help I was already gutted when let's go eevee & Pikachu held back a mainline title enough. I've seen some footage of one of the gym leaders though and they seem animated pretty well with movement there's no excuse to why they couldn't just use all of the movement from battle revolution though and just create the rest, cutting corners in a good way instead of being lazy with idle sprites. Let's not forget it was evident the sun and moon sprites could be upscaled and the only reworking would be polishing up the pixelated areas. That ties in with dinomax too, showing it would be really easy for them. They should've just made more megas and never done z moves imo, now to be scrapping both is somewhat of a middle finger (I never liked z moves anyways but cmon game freak, so megas are just lost mons now technically).

We probably won't see a title running at full potential for 3 years as if the 3ds era is anything to go by each new game slightly was better than the last. When everyone first saw sword & shield they were like wow this looks amazing but the graphics just look like upscaled 3ds. I even laughed at a Facebook comment I saw saying but those n64 woods though. :rofl2: I love Pokémon but game freak has got to get backlash in order for them to be encouraged to do more. There is modders who can do better work than these people if given the initial assets to do so, it's a shame really.

Of course. I don't mind that you can't transfer old Pokemon to it, as that's not something I usually do anyway. I think that would just make the game too easy/repetitive, I prefer to make a new team so I can make use of some of the new Pokemon that are in the region.

I was planning to buy it, but they've made a bunch of dumb decisions, then after thinking back on how little content the games have had since after Gen5, I decided no. Their laziness can't be rewarded anymore. Battle Tower reskinned for the umpteenth time is not a post game. Just handing people legendary event pokemon is not fun. Cutting down a good 75% of pokemon is a stupid move.

I changed my mind.

I’m getting both even though I’m not happy about the national dex thing. Hopefully the backlash changes their minds even if it’s just a patch.

Buying the game despite being unhappy says the exact opposite to Gamefreak. It tells them that you don't care about the national dex being cut. All you're doing is incentivising them to do it again.

Well, I can't find my stance on the list.
Initially, I wanted to certainly buy the game as I thought it was a full game and even considered pre-ordering is, as there was a pretty good deal available.

Now I don't know. I will probably wait to see if the hackers manage to get all Pokemons in and whether or not I am pressured by my peer group to play it and whether or not a good discount is available.

A someone said:

This being the reason why I haven't been buying pokemon games since Sun and Moon, they felt heavily rushed since then (or even before). The last one I bought was Alpha Sapphire.

This game is not worth pirating. Game went from hype to the game is shit after the reveal
I think that if you ignore what the game is missing and release your expectations you can still have a good time playing it. I strongly believe gamers should not support incomplete games so I will not buy it myself.

I honestly still consider the whole temper tantrum over pokedex rather childish, and not a good look for the fanbase.

1) For the first time in a while, GameFreak tries to introduce some new mechanics, as well as experiment with core gameplay and online features - naturally, they're going to prioritize that over adding 800+ fully animated models into the game.
2) During previous generations, there were constant complaints about how "they just add new Pokemon and don't change anything" - and suddenly we have a complete 180, but with the same (if not bigger) amount of nerd-raging and hashtag-flinging.

Either the whole situation is telling about some of the toxic parts of Pokemon community as a whole, or it's just the kind of thing that will make more sense for hardcore fans of the franchise. Or, as a combination of all above, hardcore fans suddenly started finding out that their favorite series isn't really catering to them, and relies much more on its cyclic demographic of kids/teenagers - in which case, refunds and disappointment are understandable, but an army of overly nostalgic adults starting a twitter campaign over what's primarily a kids franchise is just kinda embarrassing in grand scheme of things.

Another shitty comment about how child-aimed videogames or movies deserve zero quality, because everyone knows that they being children means that they don't give a fuck about anything in their lives.

Sarcasm away, let me tell you that even my 9 and 12 year old cousins are also complaining about the lack of national pokedex and the graphic quality, they have grown with the series as well, not only "an army of overly nostalgic adults".
