you have installed haxchi over cbhc, you are bricked, as far as i know only a hardmod with a nand backup could save your wiiu (hardmod mean soldering and stuff)

Reattach power supply firstly. If console bricked, you will see error on screen (160-0101 or 160-0103)

++you can try press and hold "home" buttion when console startup = boot menu cbhc

Try to see if the CBHC menu pops-up before trying an hardmod (hold HOME for a few seconds at boot).
If the CBHC menu pops up, you can then uninstall CBHC with the Homebrew Launcher and set it up correctly.
If the menu don't pop up after multiple tries, you are a case of a Brick or a Semi-Brick... You can do an hardmod if you made the backups... I'm sure there is a guide on there. If your Wii U is really bricked, you don't have anything to lose since if it's in a bricked stage, it's basically a shiny paperweight...

You will depending on how old the backup is... And if you made it full...
You could get them back if you can get access to the Homebrew Launcher...

There is a guide:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-kaflukes-hardmod-cbhc-unbrick-guide.476725/

But I don't agree with the "nothing to lose" part. Soldering so many small points should be done by someone with experience. Else it might get permanently bricked on hardware level.
There are not that many Wii U consoles and losing one is a big waste.

True but if his Wii U can't get repaired, it will end up as a shiny doorstop or paperweight...
I do agree that every Wii U is precious, if OP doesn't have enough experience he should ask someone that do solder to small contact points/wiring (or maybe send it to someone here but it will be expensive with the delivery...)

Is there any way to access the contents of a Wii U NAND-backup on a PC – like ninfs for 3DS|DSi|Switch? The only thing I found was this (don’t have messed around with Wii U topics a lot):
https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/List_of_WiiU_PC_utilities#Other_Utilities
If there is no way to access the files within the dumped NAND getting a new Wii U does not solve this problem:
is there a way to recover my saves and more importantly my super mario maker levels (I did a Nand backup I think it was called).

For what people install chbc? Too lazy for manualy launch haxchi?
This discussion is old – but I agree with you. “I have been using CBHC for X months/years and everything is fine! All user error!!! Humans make mistakes. Period. And CBHC is not fault tolerant. One weak moment, maybe months or years after reading the warnings… one mistake → BOOM!

If somebody is confident to never do any of the don’ts and wants to take the risk or thinks there is no risk: fine. I prefer it totally safe and don’t mind the extra time for non cold boot Haxchi.

The decision CHBH yes or no is up to each user.

actually is there a way to restore the back up to another wii u?
There is no known way to restore NAND dump without hardmod. And even more important:
:!: Restoring the raw image from your current console on another will ALSO brick the second one:!:

Was puzzles me in this case is this "going to black screen". That differs from everything I’ve read so far about messed up CBHC.

I did a haxchi mod last year and a week later I asked about going chbc as I got a bit fed up of loading haxchi everytime. A guy said stick with haxchi as you never know it might brick with one wrong move, at the time I agreed but part of me still wanted chbc...I have 3 kids and all use wii u...if I had chbc I reckon by now I could have had a bricked wii u. Luckily, now Im used to haxchi.

Good luck OP, if I were you I'd look online for a 2nd hand wii u console as backup plan. I think now more than ever wii u prices are cheap and I imagine they may go up in the future as it has 3 in 1 (excluding snes, n64 etc) nintendo consoles which future gens of retro loving people may appreciate.
