I don't know if it's the same, but bylaws has been working on that for awhile. Check here. It's why we have L4T Linux. It was easier to build Android from Linux, than to go straight to Android. So he got Linux running, so he could get Android running.

Marvelous things like this is why I decide to hack my consoles above piracy, and now I feel genuinely tempted to hack my switch. It is an unpatched unit, but I refused to hack it because Mario Kart 8 online or whatever. Now that we got emuMMC support, I guess it's time to move.

What are some of the emulation implications for this? Would an emulator run better on this than, say, Ubuntu? What has greater overhead?

You will have access to more emulators designed specifically for aarch64.

What is better? App optimized with one platform in mind or for all platforms in terms of performance, with the same amount of worktime that devs took to make app? Linux is made with all platforms in mind, when Android is made for ARM.

It's AOSP if nothing has changed from what I last heard.
Portal is already confirmed working.

Emummc shouldn't have an impact on the decision making for using linux though

The use of Linux and Android won't ban you as it completely load another os so happy days!

tbf if you have a vita or 3ds (only gms 3 on 3ds) you can do that

mgs 3 is amazing

Strangely enough the Antutu score they posted was 224495 when the Nvidia Shield only scores 134796. I wonder why that is.

That isn't true, Android runs on x86/x64 as well. I wouldn't expect there to be any performance differences between Android or Linux, as long as there aren't any stupid mistakes.

There are ports of Android for x86 thanks to open source. X86 is not supported by Google.
And you can't check differences in performance because Android for x86 struggles with running 3D games made for ARM.

For x86 they have Chromium/Chrome OS.

These are results from v6, AnTuTu is now v7 and each major version Has different patterns for calculating performance, so they are not good to compare.

This has definitely been posted elsewhere, but is still very cool. Having a mass-market, single configuration unit also means that there is a much higher likelihood that whatever comes from this will be fairly stable and updated regularly.

That being said, isn't access to console games one of the main reasons for getting a console in the first place? If so, wouldn't installing a general purpose OS like this kind of defeat the purpose?
