Hacking New dev mode privilege escalation exploit published

Is someone so kind to post a video of what this can do?
Or how to use it actually? :D
It can allow you to access more of the file system, flash and perform operations such as interacting with a kernel driver. It allows a way to simply get more out of Dev Mode than normal and can be useful for finding things that could, probably, affect retail but of course responsibly. I might work on getting a typical Win32 D3D11 app rendering for example.

The tool will support any version past mid-late 2017. It's also not really possible to run the standard windows setup, it's not that simple. It's a very different beast but you can run a standard win32 console app and also, through hooking and all, attach and render standard programs.

I don't intend to ever enable privacy. And it's not happening soon.

I know you don't intend to enable piracy, but I got an xbox for gamepass, and eventually gamepass support on the xbox is going to end. All the games you paid for will go away. Not to mention that some of the games on xbox one are already going away, there is NO way to play forza horizon 2 (the best in the series) by purchasing it online, you have to buy a used DVD from ebay for that. Borderlands got delisted today as well. Games are getting delisted cause of gamepass. Because of that, I would like a safe heaven backup, so that my subscription money doesn't go to waste

It's something that other people will have to look into. It's not really not something I could explore unfortunately. Explicitly enabling such a thing would probably prevent me from doing anything.

Oh I see, you want to focus your efforts elsewhere, gotcha, thats fine. If you ever find yourself working down that alley then do let us know. I'm worried that games are being delisted and the longevity of this platform.

don't hate microsoft lol but same here, most of games from them are exclusive ^^

LOL.. I don't hate Microsoft to be honest with you. I just hate Microsoft because of their crappy updates on PC, a ugly xbox box design and also a controllers as well, that's all. Nothing to do with exclusive. Sony and Nintendo have exclusives also. :P

Yeah, I may work towards something along the lines of backups but it's a tightrope. As for the delisting and all, there would still be ways to get them back and Xbox have already started their migration to PC. That's what kinda killed the mood for me but it'll be exciting.

It's interesting to see how they brought the main XVD Mount Driver to Windows 10 and actually use a slightly modified format of XVD/XVC. Different keys, as expected, but it seems they have very interesting plans.

Oh of course there ways to get them back, like I said, sketchy DVD purchases from ebay. As for the move to PC, not everyone can afford a gaming PC and the best experience is still on the console (the UI, easiness of use, the entire ecosystem), PC is a bit all over the place and for experts. I picked up the xbox one x to play powerful games without having to worry about graphics card, processor, etc. Its a good purchase. Its like picking laptops, both dell and the microsoft surface run windows 10, but microsoft surface does it better because its better optimized and less bloatware.

If anything could you also look into backwards compatibility and see if its possible to enable more disks? Games like Alan Wake will never make it onto xbox one because they have stopped, but backups could enable a full 3 generation of console games being playable on one.

Not possible for back-compat. They don't have an emulator just stored away on the OS unfortunately. Each back-compat game has to download their version from Xbox Live (in XVC format) which contains the game and the emulator, tweaked specifically for each title.

if eventually a cfw shows, we'll find all xvc versions of each game (or I'm dreaming)

Can you look inside such a XVC container?
I heard that the back-compat games are staticly recompiled into native x86 - can you confirm that there are game executeables inside?

No, each game has its own encryption key that is generated during their submission to the store, etc. No way to dump those keys on the console, it'd require a hardware based attack or a severe bug that would exist in the security processor firmware.

In reference to the back-compat games, I'm not sure. From what I've seen and heard, they do in fact emulate targeted games and maybe they tweak the game and the emulator for each but yeah.
Microsoft started the 360 Emulation project internally a long time ago, just before the Xbox One discussed, and they made progress.

This thing has a security processor?
