Hi guys, do you think going for emunand has a sense for me? This is my scenario:

- I am running atmosphere and sxos

- I updated from 6.0.1 to 7 with choixdujour (and going to update to 8 soon)

- I have clean nand backup of my 6.0.1 fw

Sincerely I can't get the usefulness of having a clean nand on 6.0.1 because I am out of warmboot purposes. Also, even if I'd like to play online games on clean nand, it is unlikely I could because fw 6 has became obsolete.
What do you think about that? Thank you

You will be able to have 2 emunands at the same time so keep your ofw as low as possible then one emunand that is for cfw and one emunand on lastest ofw for online play

Safest way to play online is clean sysnand. Forget your fuses.. we're past that. Just restore your nand, update and setup emunand.
Sure playing from sysnand is safe but quite useless for newest game because they require newest firmware

Ah ok! Thank you I missed your post. Now it is clear! I think a big sd is needed to have 2 emunands...

For me not, I just read everywhere that lowest firmware is better for a future warm boot exploit
Eh... as I said earlier, we're past all that... If you have SX there isn't anything much you'll be missing.

If you want to play online this is the safest route and SX OS emunand is designed to be used this way. Clean updated sysnand, dirty cfw emunand.

Thank you Dax. After restoring my original nand, do I have to make the procedure with the jig, launch a payload and install auto RCM?

autoRCM is not needed as it is only to prevent you from booting your sysnand with a dirty log and sending it to Nintendy... and skipping the jig. With it installed you can't boot your sysnand... or you can, but with a modified boot0/1 that might be detectable.

Just restore your clean nand and then setup emunand. From then on, when you turn on your system it will be clean stock and if you want to boot SX OS, get jiggy with it.

Yes, you will need your jig after restoring and you will need the latest SX OS Beta (2.7.1 I believe)

Thank you very much guys. Given that I don't think I'll make the emunand because booting with jig all the times I want go into cfw is annoying. Also I am not so much interested in playing online.

You can mod your JoyCon with a reed switch or a button instead of using a jig.
I wouldn't mind the jig if I didn't have a case that stops me from taking off the JoyCons without removing it first.

I'm thinking of doing this mod: https://gbatemp.net/threads/joycon-mod-using-eject-button-as-switch.508772/
On page 2-3 there are suggestions for improvements to make the mod easier and cleaner (alternate routing for the wires that require no cutting, and buying metal locks and soldering to it instead of gluing which is tricky)
The reed switch mod is definitely easiest, just need to solder it to the 2 solder points, then it can be activated with a magnet, but you have to remember to always bring a magnet with you)

You forgot the link: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-another-magnetic-reed-switch-rcm-installation.505438/

I also have this bookmarked for the future but that will have to wait until I get some new joycons because I'm RUBBISH at soldering and I'm not interested in frying my only pair lol

Wrong link (I swear I posted it)
This is what I meant: https://gbatemp.net/threads/joycon-mod-using-eject-button-as-switch.508772/

The other similar mod that uses an actual button is this one, which might be easier, if you can get the button: https://gbatemp.net/threads/joy-con-mod-eject-button-as-switch-for-rcm.509405/

You can always buy a replacement rail and solder to that (it's only like $5) and test it, if all goes well you can assemble it into your controller.
