sorry i'm not an expert at figuring out how to make specific game load from SD. but i have a few questions.@matt! Thanks for all your testing in the other thread. And yeah I don’t even like racing games but I remember playing Excite Truck when it first came out and how fun it was.
@fledge68 So from Matt’s testing, it looks like the game works fine when loading from USB, but for some reason no matter what options you set in WiiFlow Lite, the game won’t start from an SD card. This goes for Wii and vWii. Do you think it’s possible to fix at all? I’m unsure of other games that have the same issue but from the whole Wii library I wouldn’t be surprised if there was another.
white bar all the way across (to me) means wiiflow is done and it's a problem with the cIOS. most likely it was an older version of d2x that used to work.WiiFlow white bar does make it all the way across.
That said, I don't think it's worth trying to "fix" WiiFlow if there are no loaders proven to be able to run the game from SD.
I tried CFG USB Loader and that plays from USB but not SD.
Time better spent playing or trying to find somebody who has proven to play it from SD so you can ask their setup.
Choose USB in WiiFlow global settings.I have one question.
How do you load games from USB in WiiFlow (Lite)? I can't find any option for it. It kinda sucks because I would like to try out WiiFlow Lite and see if it's maybe an at-least decent alternative to GX.
going off of memory - on first run USB is mounted (if there is any) because wiiflow_lite.ini has not been created yet so we can't check settings. but a bit later we set SD only true if no usb devices are attached. so on any subsequent run sd only will be true and usb will not be mounted.Choose USB in WiiFlow global settings.
I think it’s labelled “Game Partition” set it to “USB1" and make sure “SD only” is set to “no”.
@fledge68 do default settings take account of whether USB is connected at first run?

after you click play, do you ever see the little quick white progress bar at the bottom of the screen? and does it make it all the way across?
Also what cIOS are you using? A cIOS with base 57 or 58 may work better.
and is that cIOS d2x v8 or v10? if it worked before it may mean v8 works better.
edit: i see you are on vwii. i don't think v8 works for vwii. only v10. thats a bummer. well you can still try the other bases.
I read somewhere yesterday that since excite truck is so old it only works with standard sd cards, not sdhc cards. otherwise i have no idea what else to try.Yes it makes it all the way across...guess it means like you said, a cIOS problem. I'm not sure what cIOS I'm using but WiiFlow only gives me three options, 249, 250 and 251. Tried them all and none work. Not sure how I would try other cIOS but I know I modded iOS 58. I wonder if there's a list of Wii games not compatible with SD loading and if anyone actually knows the reason. And yes I'm well aware it's not a big deal if you're just dying to play the game, but I feel like most people are in this scene because it's fun figuring out how things work and coming up with solutions. I wonder what person here would know the most when it comes to loading Wii games and specifically from the SD card...

the arg ios is the ios that wiiflow will use for its self. it's the apps ios for input/output. the game will still use the ios you have selected.I'm running into an small issue and want to find something out before testing any further. If I put an argument in the apps/wiiiflow/meta file that forces WiiFlow Lite it to use IOS249 is that the only IOS WiiFlow will use?
<arguments>
<arg>ios=249</arg>
</arguments>
Meaning that if I have the meta file set as above but go into a game and it's settings selecting IOS250 for it, will the game be using 249 or 250?
Does the individual game setting over ride the meta or does the meta override the individual game settings?

my bad, i just checked the code. so when a game's IOS setting is set to auto wiiflow will use it's cIOS to run the wii game.Well I'm running into a loading problem with I Spy Spooky Mansion. Maybe it's an oddity, maybe it's me & maybe I shouldn't do this late at night while drinking.
At first it wouldn't load, just black screen so I thought I had a bad/corrupt game. Then I tried it on another Wii and it worked and the only difference between the systems I could find was the IOS249 installed in them. This is really no surprise that maybe it needed a different setting to work but changing the IOS in the game settings did not work to fix the first system.
System #1
Using WiiFlow Lite v5.3.0beta6
Argument in apps/WiiFlow/meta to force IOS249
Tested on both USB & SD Card
IOS249[57]-d2x-v8-final ~ Using default IOS 249: Spooky Mansion NOT working
IOS250[56]-d2x-v8-final ~ Change I Spy game settings to use IOS250 that's using base [56]: Spooky Mansion NOT working
IOS251[58]-d2x-v8-final ~ Not tried yet
System #2
Using WiiFlow Lite v5.3.0beta6
Argument in apps/WiiFlow/meta to force IOS249
Tested on both USB & SD Card
IOS249[56]-d2x-v8-final ~ Using default IOS 249: Spooky Mansion WORKS
IOS250[57]-d2x-v8-final ~ Didn't try its working with 249[56]
IOS251[58]-d2x-v8-final ~ Didn't try its working with 249[56]
I've re-installed the IOS order a few times on each system to test things out. Installing either system IOS249 to 56 and the game works on USB & SD card. Setting either system to IOS249[57] and IOS250 to 56 then telling WiiFlow in the I Spy Spooky Mansion game setting to use IOS250 that is set to base 56 d2x-v8-final gives me black screen and it doesn't load on either USB or SD.
Even stranger is it might not be just WiiFlow. I'm pretty sure I tried it out on the other loaders with the same result, but I've now lost track of everything I tried last weekend. I got caught up with this and didn't get around to testing the Excite Truck SD card size limit question (will get to it this weekend) and will probably run this I Spy issue though all the other configurations of d2x v10beta53-alt, v10beta52 & v8-final to see what happens.
Setting up 6 test units to test each of the configurations this weekend is a little bit of a hassle (but I'll probably do it anyways), so I figured I'd mention it here and pick everyone's brain in case there was some known issue I haven't found or if there is something obvious I'm doing wrong by forcing WiiFlow to use IOS249 in the Meta.
my bad, i just checked the code. so when a game's IOS setting is set to auto wiiflow will use it's cIOS to run the wii game.
so if you set wiiflow to ios 250 and the game to auto it will use 250 to boot the game.
it sounds to me like spooky mansion doesn't like base 57 cios.
edit: telling the game to use a specific cios may not work if wiiflow's cios is different. for example - wiiflow using cios 249 and the game set to cios 250. possibly doesn't work because of the reloading of the cios from 249 to 250. might be the same as when users have wiiflow set to ios58 and their game uses cios 249 which causes usb HDD remounting issues since the drive has to be unmounted and remounted during the IOS/cios switching. so i'm guessing switching/reloading cios from 249 to 250 might cause the same usb HDD mounting issues.
How did you get on? If not, I can see if I have an old type SD card to try.I don't care about playing the game but find the issue interesting. I'll test this out tonight on a 256GB SDXC, 64GB SDHC & a 2/4/8GB SD and post back what happens.
Never!I'd even say it's more exciting than truck.
