The Final Fantasy VII Remake now has a release date

Square Enix might have stolen Day 1 of E3 without even having a press conference today. The company has announced that the long awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake has a release date, and one within this century, in fact. On March 3, 2020, the first episode of the game will launch on the PlayStation 4.

Rebuilding and expanding upon the legendary RPG for today, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE tells the story of a world fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet's very life force as mako energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic adventures that await him.

Allow me to clarify what I meant. This game has not aged well from a technical perspective. I never did like the battles or soundtrack. I've seen people argue over the years that Final Fantasy VI is better or that Final Fantasy VII was revolutionary for its time then Final Fantasy VIII improved on it in every way.

I rarely play JRPGs but according to my Switch I played 65+ hours of Octopath Traveler. On the Wii Virtual Console I played the shit out of the Donkey Kong Country series. Recently I started playing The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages on the GameBoy Colour.

You're not alone on your opinion. FF7 is pretty crappy IMO as well. It's pretty much the definition of overrated in my dictionary.
However, under that ugly, pixelated mess of 3D gfx (3D was mostly a mistake on PSX, it could have been the best 2D system ever), there is a
somewhat interesting plot, and a good OST, which is the only reason I spent decades yearning for a good remake.

Glad to see my wish finally becoming true.

The PSX wasn't good at 3D due to various factors, the GTE had no perspective correction, subpixel precision/z-buffer and at higher resolutions, many flaws are visible. FF7 being remade should hopefully be a better than just scaling the original to 1080p.

And it's not a tech demo!

You see my point when I said JRPG is not for you, means you don't come and say this game sucks while you only played the first few hours of a JRPG when you yourself don't even like this type of games, DKC and Zelda games aren't even an JRPG not even close, Octopath Travelers was a big disappointment for me, but You see, I have the right to dislike that game because I played it and I played many JRPG to compare it with.

You got my point?

that's your opinion, in my opinion it's anti consumer and i'm not gonna support them because of that. If you feel it ain't anti consumer well that is your full right

for me it all depends really, if in the end of all episodes you pay more than 70 euros then they are abusing it imo.

imagining they launching ff7 remake complete game for like 100$ for no reason, the internet would be outraged and so would consumers, rockstar spends years and does a crapload of content and they still sell their games at a standard price.

So if you pay more than 70 on the end then they are just milking the money.

lol if you have extra dollars to spare send them to me then, so your saying if rockstar said their next gta will cost 150 euros for the normal game you would be fine with it since it would be quality lol.

As consumers we must talk with our wallet, theres no other way.

Quality? Nowadays you pay for incomplete games that developers can't be arsed to fix on launch, so they milk the game by making DLC as covering up for the games' incompleteness. That's called half-assed development.

70 quid is prob 80 euros though - and as so many games to play youl always hav the chance buying used games which is a great option if think launch prices are to high

thats what i do most of the time but you cant buy used digital games so if they make all episodes cost almost 100$ i wont pay that at all, maybe on ps5 we see a complete physical edition.

Sorry to say release date means totally nothing..... They can just pull it back as much as they want.

What they need to do is tell you when its near completion so then you know its not long even if they pull it back.

I played FF7 for more than a few hours. Look back at my first post. I'm not calling retro games bad as a whole, simply explaining why I didn't like FF7; my comment about retro games was directed to wurstpistole. You don't have to like Octopath Traveler, lots of people don't.
I played through CD1 of FF7 a few years ago but found it boring as hell. I never finished the game and if I hadn't been convinced it's one of the best games ever I wouldn't have played for more than a few hours.
