Hardware Where to buy a PSP battery?

I have a 1200mAh and am wanting to uprgrade but iv'e heard that finding the offical batteries are pretty hard. FYI I have a PSP 3000.

I have to ask about this too. Strangely enough 4 doors down from me someone actually did a garage sale on a sunday, they had a psp 1000 with no battery inside, along with a still open but unused FF4 game and a FF1 game too.

I've been aware that the OEM batteries on the PSP tend to get funky, bloat, die. I don't want cheap chinese shit either. I saw something about the Cameron Sino battery being a 1:1 for power consumption and made now. Would that be a wise choice or finding a brand new old OEM PSP battery?

That said if I were to try and CFW this thing or something as it also came with a high speed 8GB memory card within it, would that take a pandora battery from the day or something smarter happened since? I've not had a PSP since shortly after Peacewalker failed in sales with all those lovely pirated copies tweaked off Konami ages ago.

I think all you need is some files on the Memory Stick if I remember correctly. Been a few years since I've done it, but this guide seems alright. https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-softmod-hack-your-psp.293978/

Loved PSP 1000. Best portable ever! And UMD discs was amazed and beautiful design. Missed it already. Now, Sony isn't making any portable system anymore after PS Vita.

To purchase a battery is very easy -- Ebay. If you don't have one for some reason then it might be a little bit difficult to find one. Try Amazon. An Ebay and an Amazon re the only ones to find them, I think.

I don't it came with it removed because the old one was showing bad signs so it was pitched by the last owner and used on the wall adapter. Problem is the PSP is kind of stupid because it won't allow a system update without a bttery even plugged in. It has 6.37 on there, 6.61 is on the memory card that was included as the guy bought a nice 8GB high speed one and it has some PS1 games on there already too which is a bonus. Seems the system works fine so far, got my network settings in, menus all good, etc, just no battery so I'm blocked from a few functions.

That's why I asked about Cameron Sino vs OEM battery from Sony that's new I can find, either case around $10 on ebay shipped.

Cameron Sino is a reputable brand, as are Patona, Tera, and WBHV or however you spell that...

... the problem, apart from ensuring you're not getting a fake of the "fake" or Sony*, there's also the issue of buying stock of unknown age - if less-than-original capacities (or removing the UMD drive & cutting the case) aren't issues, the best PSP battery you can get is the one you assemble yourself from an original battery's electronics and a replacement cell

* how UltraFire became the most laughable brand of batteries, R4 the most laughable name for DS flashcards. and (along with other factors) GameStar the most laughable name for PS2 network adapters

Well that's interesting. I really hadn't thought about replacing the cell within a battery on that as it never crossed my mind and aren't they sealed anyway so it sounds like it would be a bit tricky. That, and I'd still have to get a battery before chopping into a battery too.

Thanks for the inspiration. After sleeping over it I managed to do decent mod using Nokia BL-5C pack. The great thing is that you can make it fit in the original enclosure and there you go.

About 3-4 years ago, when I first got my PSP 1000 I needed to replace the battery on it. I did so with some random generic Chinese one off of eBay, and it's worked great for me, even to this day. But I can say that they're not always great. I would say to find one that's not too far into the cheap side and just pull the trigger on a third party one. If anything were to go wrong, it'd probably just be that the battery won't charge/won't hold a charge, any real danger is really, really uncommon (at least, in my experience)

I've got my psp 2000 here that I've been looking for a battery for for a long time. It hasn't expanded, but I feel like it doesn't really hold a charge anymore. Problem is being in Korea I can't order from a lot of the same places, aliexpress seems like the only choice for me, or modding it myself
