oh no..... at games doing sega genesis emulation was one thing, but i can't imagine at games doing arcade emulation.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

In theory, that sounds like a great arcade machine. But yes, people in this thread are right: It is created by ATGames. :/
sounds great on paper, but with at games track record..... that's not so great

Fuck, man, for once in my life I was being optimistic in the expectation AtGames was history after being dropped by Sega.

At that price, it would be worth buying one just to stick your own guts in it and run MAME. New arcade cabinets even as non assembled kits are not cheap, and sure you can make your own from scratch but many people don't have the time, carpentry skills, or willingness to do all that work. I wish they wouldn't have put "350 Games" in big lettering all over the thing though, kinda makes it look cheap, but you can always paint over that. Having that stuff written on the box, in the manual and on the product page is good enough.
I've always wanted an arcade cabinet but lack the tools or carpentry skills to make one from scratch. But I also don't have much room for one and don't really have the money, and it probably wouldn't get used all that much anyway, mostly just for 2 player action when I have visitors which is fairly rare.

I wish arcade cabinet kits were cheaper, after all it's just a few pieces of painted wood and some screws (and sometimes a monitor is included), the rest you provide yourself. It can't cost much to make, but it's such a niche market that to make it worth selling them, they have to be expensive, when really they could be priced more like an IKEA bookshelf if there was a bigger market for them.

Hey its not that bad. I look forward to this!!!
No, it seems to be actually good to be honest. The problem is that the software and hardware quality of ATGames products is very bad. Emulation sucks, the products feel a bit cheap and so on.

And competent people to program emulators that don't suck helps too.
That's why I think it should just be a blank canvass which you can put any emulator on. All it needs is a user-friendly UI and wireless/wired data transfer from your PC.

It does have spinners and a trackball which I didn't expect... I can't see this selling well at all though.
Huh, I didn't even notice that at first glance, that is cool. At this price point they are definitely going cheap on some of the components, though, it's just a matter of waiting on reviews to find out which.

Agreed, but unfortunately, I bet dollars to donuts the audio emulation will be several octaves lower like the Genesis Flashback or whatever it was called

Wait a second, I might buy this for the cabinet if its cheap enough.

Edit: $599 >.< id maybe spend 3-4 depending on buttons/configuration (and if they are standard arcade buttons), and also screen.

Oh, damn. I didn't knew about that. Well, then I think the concept is good but the actual product will be a bit cheap.

For $600 for the full sized one you're better off building one yourself, way too expensive for what is going to inevitably be shit emulation.

And if you're too shit at construction DIY to build one yourself, you could always go for one of these: https://arcade1up.com/ < and use an Atomic Pi <

I watched that video the day it came out and it legit made me think about going to Walmart by my house here they sell those cabinets and ordering an Atomic Pi.... Then I realized as much as I want that I have like a bazillion things I can do arcade emulation on and I do enjoy them. (I think OG Xbox with Ninja Massive is still my favorite for arcade stuff right now. Just because it's pretty and the UI is easier to work with than MAME on a PC.)

Still tempting though....

I'm convinced AtGames is staffed by third world coders who are surrounded by rackmounted servers, because their work screams basement budget and a tone-deaf nature to the sound in particular that feels like a punishment for crimes against decency. How have they not taken the hint after so many years of selling knowingly awful Sega Genesis ripoffs?
