Xbox Game Pass is coming to PC, Microsoft also bringing 20+ of their first party titles to Steam

Microsoft has made a pretty major reveal, prior to its E3 briefing. The company will be bringing its Xbox Game Pass service to PC, with over 100 available titles to play at launch. Developers and publishers such as Deep Silver, Bethesda, SEGA, Paradox, and more will be partnering up with Microsoft to allow their games to be played by PC players with an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Just like with the console version of the subscription service, first-party Microsoft titles will be playable on launch, which includes content from the newly acquired inXile and Obsidian Entertainment. Those that enjoy using the Microsoft Store will be able to make use of the service's 20% off Windows game purchases that are offered in the Xbox Game Pass library.

In an effort to give players more choice, Microsoft will also be bringing over 20 of its first-party games to the PC gaming storefront, Steam. Gears of War 5, Age of Empires, and over 20 more titles will be brought to Steam, following the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC.

More information is slated for Xbox's E3 press conference, so we'll find out specific details and pricing in just a few weeks.

Two years ago, we launched Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One, and since then we’ve seen how valuable a curated library of high-quality games can be for players and game developers alike. It offers a great way to discover and play your next favorite game. We researched whether a similar opportunity exists for PC players and PC game developers, and we believe that it does. We also considered the importance of bringing something new and additive to the PC gaming ecosystem, and we believe that we can. So, we designed a service specifically for the needs of PC gamers and PC game developers. It’s called Xbox Game Pass, just like the original, but it’s a new experience that we are building together with the PC community.

Xbox Game Pass for PC will give players unlimited access to a curated library of over 100 high-quality PC games on Windows 10, from well-known PC game developers and publishers such as Bethesda, Deep Silver, Devolver Digital, Paradox Interactive, SEGA, and more. And just as we committed on the console, it is our intent to include new games from Xbox Game Studios in Xbox Game Pass for PC the same day as their global release, including titles from newly acquired studios like Obsidian and inXile. We’re working with over 75 developers and publishers to bring PC content to the service and we’ll ensure the library remains curated and full of great PC titles across a variety of genres, with new games added every month.

Xbox Game Pass for PC members will also receive discounts in the Microsoft Store on Windows of up to 20% on games currently in the library and up to 10% off related game DLC and add-ons.

We look forward to sharing more at E3, including the great games coming to the library, as well as more details on when and how you’ll experience the new Xbox Game Pass service for PC gamers.

Was just reading about this, I'm glad they're bringing stuff to Steam so you're not stuck with shitty Windows Store exclusivity. I might consider getting Game Pass for PC if the price is right, like say $5 a month or something, but I'm sure it probably won't be.

That last part almost makes you forget that time when Valve slammed Microsoft for making Windows 8, calling it a catastrophe for PC gaming.
Great stuff tho, more deals and PC ports and are always nice :grog:

I thought Windows already could use Game Pass. How was it I played Sea of Thieves for a couple months without buying it? I can't remember.

I hope they make it a package, like if I purchase Game Pass for Xbox I get it on PC too. I just hope I don’t have to pay $20 a month for both.

They made some games available, mostly the cross buy games.

YAY. This is good news. Even more 'zero reason to own a Failbox'. Would be nice if MS just gave up on consoles altogether. Imo anyway.. before someone get's butt-hurt.

Well, PC-only would fail to get them enough sales as well as console-only does. Why ditch any of those if the other doesn't guarantee enough income by itself?

Wow I didn't expect this. When I get a powerful enough PC, there's gonna be more reasons to own an Xbox 360 than Xox. Only good reasons I can see now are Rare Replay (I hope we get this), Halo 5 (will probably be brought over) and the improved backwards compatibility (which is awesome still). Basically if all games are brought over then to me the system becomes an expensive Xbox/X360 emulator.

How many people really have their xboxes on montiors and PCs on TVs.

Call me when there's gamepass and MS exclusives on PS5, that is the real death knell for xbox hardware.

I actually have my pc set up to a triple monitor setup, a 4k monitor, a 244hz curved monitor and an ultrawide 1440p monitor and have it also hooked up to my 65 inch Tv for the single player games from the couch hooked up with a sound card so that i can use the 7.1 surround system i have set up in my living room. Sometimes i get lazy and want to game on my xbox one X and ps4 while having facebook and everything on so i sometimes use a switch that i have in place to output it to 1 of my monitors. So yeah some do i guess
