REQUIRES UNLAUNCH DSI
THERE IS A SEMI-AUTOMATED PATCHER FOR WINDOWS
TESTED NAND VERSIONS

This is the first (that i know of) DSi NAND hack.

You can now with this method use other NANDs on your DSi

Requirements:
1. Your NAND setup with HiyaCFW
2. The other NAND setup with HiyaCFW
3. An SD Card
4. An Unlaunch enabled DSI

Before Starting:
1. It is recommended to check your NAND with the working NAND versions above. If it isn't there and it does work, please contact me to get it added to the list.

Instructions:
1. Have your NAND and the other NAND ready
2. Go into your NAND and copy the /sys, /title and /ticket folders to the Other NAND, If it asks you to replace anything let it replace the files.
3. Put the other NAND onto your SD Card.
4. Plug your SD card into your DSi. Voila it boots.

This is too complex!
Use the Semi-Automated patcher up top for Windows. If you are on macOS or Linux, I can't help you.

My NAND isn't setup and it isn't letting me set it up:
1. Go into your NAND and copy the /shared1 and /shared2 folders into the other NAND and remember to replace them.
2. Plug the SD card into your DSi.
3. It work

All DSiWare on the NAND will be wrapped. This will work with all regions!

Great for all users who "forget" to save/store their original NAND. :P

Just something for you, it actually requires a NAND backup but if you already have it on an SD Card and don't have nand backup i guess it works.

FreeNAND has infinite possibilities and i called it freeNAND because it literally frees your NAND and can be used for every DSi. No limits my dood. This also means we can use DSi Development or DSi Classroom NANDs on our Retail DSis and vice versa (why would u tho)

So if I wanted to go from a v1.4J to a VX.XE what exactly would I do? I dont have any other nand files.

Just run the FreeNAND patcher for windows or do it yourself. It should work fine as I have used Japanese 1.4 and USA 1.4 nands on my European 1.4.5 NAND system using FreeNAND. Although patching USA with European NANDs produces weird results.

First the manual downgrades, then the exploit behind Unlaunch, then installing DSiware without tickets, then this... it's amazing how much of the DSi's operation is ridiculously simple for the wrong reasons :)

And then Javier107 single-handedly redesigns the Patcher (2.0) and turns it into a NAND Manager (2.1, coming soonTM).

More info about 2.1:
  • It can manage NANDs and it's now being renamed from FreeNAND Patcher to FreeNAND Manager.
  • Includes checksums (MD4, MD5, SHA1, SHA256 and SHA384) just in case malicious scene members pull a gateway on us and release the first DSi virus (if you are actually in the process of doing this you make me sick)
  • I know somebody who's dumping 1.0J, not saying who because i'm not risking breaking GBATemp's rules but it is thanks to experimental versions of Memory Pit.
  • It'll probably look slick as all hell because I still haven't seen a speck of it, just little snippets that Javier said in our private DSi scene group.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Another little tidbit from Javier about 2.1:
  • The checksum operations will require certutil.exe however for those running Windows 7 and above will have this program preinstalled

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
