Pricing, games, and launch info for the Google Stadia will be revealed this summer

stadia.0.jpg

While Google took to GDC 2019 back in March to unveil its upcoming Google Stadia platform, the information revealed at the event was fairly basic. There were still many questions left to answer about the Stadia, such as the games it would have, or when it would launch. As hype and unease continue to build, Google plans to announce further information about the Stadia "later this summer", regarding pricing, game announcements, and launch info. Considering E3 is around the corner, we might learn more relatively soon.

Some people have smaller hands than you do.

I don’t think it’s a size issue as much as an angle issue.

My thumbs’ resting position is forward.

a few years old games costs as cheap as a box of oatmeal, if i wish to replay again i could just BUY IT. It will be a HUUUGE DEAL with a little monthly sub if they could get AAA titles added into library within few months away after their releases.

Just do the math, with the games i mentioned above, Dude

i don't see that will be a huge prob since STEAM, Blizzard and co. don't use boxes anymore. maybe console players won't like it but pc players??
you forget that if streaming becomes the future all games will be streaming and devs will even get more propositions to release their games in streaming services rather than steam or GOG, if they become famous enough they will just buy exclusivity deals and such, and in the end you wont ever be able to buy a game just rent it if its available at all if it has passed afew years of release that is.

then like netflix and hulu you will need to pay monthly 2 services to play diferent games,or more who knows if sony and microsoft go there then there is 3 and if a game isnt selling at all it will probably be removed from streaming service and they wont care if tha game can ever be played since if it had no release anywhere no one will ever own even the files to hack them.

streaming means there isnt even a chance to pirate your games after they gonne dead because there are no files, the games will just be gone permanently.

I'm still very skeptical about Stadia. I guess if i can play with my generic USB controller it will be somewhat cool. I still don't like the whole "games as a service" thing. H*ck, i'm a regular Steam user with many games on my account, and i still don't fully trust Valve, do you think i will trust Google? The tech company that hypes a new platforma/technology, lauches it, don't support it, and abandons it. I hope they give at least 1 month trial, i, at least, what to try on my mid end PC and my smartphone.

Yeah, the latency thing is also a major concern of mines as well. If Google really wants this to take off they will need to address this first and foremost and at a price that people will be willing to think (why not). If they are smart they should have a one week trial for all first time users.

Try any game streaming service available right now. Any.

Shadow, PlayKey, Vortex, etc.

You will not find one, not one, where lag input is not a major, major issue.

I've tried everything. Even the best have half a second delay on your key presses or mouse movements. Absolutely and completely ruining a fun gaming experience.

Even in home streaming through Ethernet on both ends is horrible.

Even if I didn't hate that kind of service with a passion (the day I can't buy games to own anymore will be the day I quit gaming for good), what I haven't seen addressed so far is Googles abominable track record in supporting their services once they're a few years old and used by many. Hangouts, goo.gl, Inbox, Chromecast Audio, Google Now, Picasa, Google Reader, to name just a few. Nothing suggests this service won't see a similar fate a few years down the road.

Fuck Google and their service ADHD.

I am no fan of the whole "we now only stream games to you" direction the industrie is seemingly taking.
And I am saying this even though the Switch is my first console where I went full Digital (it only makes sense with the Switch in my opinion).
The idea itself is nice, again look at the Switch. With Game Streaming it could play any game, look at Resident Evil or Assasins Creed in Japan.
But I don't want this to be the only option aviable, what if my Internet has Problems? No more gaming for the day? No thanks.

But:
If I trust any company to provide a good streaming experience it is google.
Not only do they have the know-how to deliver a high quality video-stream (YT, YT Livestreaming), they also have the backbone/infastructure at hand and are willing to spend a big bunch of money.
I am realy exited to see how it turns out and if it is any better than Microsoft Azure Cloud or Playstation Now, even though I will most likely only test it for a month or so (if it is even aviable in Germany).

This. I don't care what anyone says. Everything goes to streaming, and anything past the PS5/Xbox Two/Nintendo Switch 2 (if I even have time to ever play anything after this generation, I'm honestly satisfied with what I got at this point for the rest of my life and I'm sure if I have kids they will never want anything new considering how much I got) is probably gonna be my last. I've barely played any games this generation TBH!

All the kids want to play the hottest videogames of the market. Do you think a14 year kid would be happy with a PS1 and 200 games when the whole school is talking about fortnite? Would you have liked to lived the PS1/PS2/PS3 era playing Atari 2600 games because your dad thought that you wouldn't want anything bew because he had a whole bunch of Atari 2600 games? Lol you are delusional if you are sure that your kids won't want the newest videogames in the market because you have a ton of old ones :rofl2:

Oh!!! Goodie Goodie Gum Drops! Now that gaming is full on main stream and not just a niche market for the now extinct authentic nerd, things are only going to get better, just like with horror, electronic musick, Hip-Hop, Country, the Blues, you name it!

"Daddy, let me play sim city 2000 again, I'll make a beautiful city this time."
My 5yo boy, typical sunday harassement...I had to install it on the Switch through DosBox. Not talking about his crave for the Age of empire 2, Red alert or 16bit sonic !

But I assume teenagers are way more picky and influenced by their group. He will play *hitty trendy stuff I'll have to crack. In that regard, I hope streaming will crash and burn, but otherwise, life will always find a way :)

Sorry, but...why is this warranted of a thread? We already knew that this info was coming and (to a degree) when. And I get that 'teasing' the audience might be a good thing, but here on gbatemp it just means that everyone's going to parrot the same "they suck" message over and over again.

That's what jobs and hard, diligent work is for. By that point though, they'll be too worried about bills and other things adults have to be worried about so they can move out and have a social life away from their parents. At least, that's what I wished I had done as opposed to staying under my parents' roof atm just to get some piece of paper while also putting up with their fundamentalist Baptist BS from the congregation that predates that of Steven Anderson's. No, I'm not exaggerating when I make that statement, though I wouldn't say they're quite as crazy as those in that nutjob's congregations!
