In an old copy of Official Nintendo Magazine (somewhere around late 2007 to early 2008), someone asked why the Wii calendar ends at 2035. ONM replied by saying to take a look at what the numbers equate to in the alphabet.
So 20 = T
3 = C
5 = E

Spells "TCE" which could stand for "The Calendar Ends".
So what do you guys think about this useless information?

Why? Would the Wii stop working if the calendar ends?
It would start again from 2000, which would rather be annoying to potentially disastrous in time-based software (such as my innate right to an accurate per-app time log :P )

It was obviously planned, to some extent (how else are you going to get the new years' shirts 2000 to 2008 in animal crossing without cheating?) but it's rather more curious that the DS's clock (as well as the "GB/GBA" one in the few games including it) has no trouble counting up to 2099

They probably just picked an arbitrary limit that seemed well beyond the life span of the Wii. As long as nothing disastrous happens I guess it's not the end of the world if the calendar is off.

if they went by that logic i don't see why they wouldn't just round it up to 2099 like with the DS or something. 2035 seems too specific for me to just be picked like that.

Maybe it is because they will continue it after a while they just stopped there because we aren’t at that point. Eventually they will probably continue adding on the years to the Wii Calender.
