I have been waiting years for this. The GBAsp is the only console that has never had a transparent shell option.

Currently it is offered in clear frosted and clear blue frosted.

I plan to get a custom atomic purple version, I'll post pics when its done.

This shell is currently available on aliexpress and ebay. Oddly it is cheaper on ebay.

Is there something wrong with being Canadian and spelling like a Canadian? You know more English speaking countries spell this way than the single English speaking country that doesn't?

Favours, colours, flavours. Yep...checks out.
It was more that transparent is not really a colour.

Could you be any more pretentious?

Anyway, looks sleek. Wish I still had my SP.

well I realize that had I COULD havewritten, It is available in the colour "transparent blue" and also in the not colour "frosted clear" to be more CLEAR (pun intended) but I think contextually, the users here have the brain meat to understand what is being said.

Rules are for pawns my friend, while context is for kings.

But hey, lets make life more complicated through nit-picking :P

Pretentious? I thought he was pretentiously calling out the word "colour" as being wrong. Instead he was pretentiously calling out "frosted clear" for not being a colour.

And you are choosing to single out my response to this why?

Purple is nice. Not sure if I can bothered with the hassle of switching, but the shell is cheap enough, so probably buy one anyway.

Perfect, I like the blue one. I've already placed the order. What is the plastic quality?

How's the build quality? My problem with all those shells is that they look great on still pictures but when you try to actually use them it's another story. :(

Not got one here and can't rule out those pictures (which are compressed as anything) being an especially good sample or hand finished (did not look to be but at the same time I can fake it such that I will need a microscope to tell for a lot of errors, never mind in an image that is kicking it like it is 2002) but generally clearer rigid plastics are harder to do well. Injection locations look well picked and done well, there don't appear to be any plastic meeting lines (in clear stuff it looks usually sort of milky or foggy, or you can search for plastic weld lines/knit lines), sharp edges around port holes appear OK, alignment of parts looks good, and what I can make out of the text has it looking OK too. I can't rule out tolerances being off, the feel of the springs, the feel of it in general and other stuff. Looks like threads are in plastic rather than metal inserts but for something this size and likely level of abuse it is acceptable. I could pull apart mine and try to see if they made their own, had a mould or copied one but I will skip it for now.

To that end you might have to come back and tell us what the final result is. With all the provisos above there are no immediate reg flags for me. Third party replacements from China have a massively variable history, usually ranging from perfectly acceptable to case study in awful, so I am always wary but I dare say seeing those images above then if I needed a replacement then I would drop my own money on it.

Thank you for the analysis. Sounds like you know your shit when it comes to injection molding. I'll post pics when my build is complete if anyone is interested.
