I will bite.
First order of business is to upgrade to OFW if you're not on it already. Second upgrade to HFW. The one on the page you linked is correct. Sometimes flashing doesn't go as planned and thus the need to flash the firmware twice. I didn't want a brick so I did it. YMMV, but I'd suggest you flash twice. After that you have to go ahead and install HAN. It will give you a HAN toolbox and a install package option on your game section.

Once HAN is installed, reboot console, go back to the ps3xploit website and do package bind, after that do HEN enabler. Once successfully enabled you're free to go where you like.

I installed the HDD HEN enabler. Since having a USB plugged in all the time is not really an option for me. Too many little fingers that like to pull stuff out and dissolve it into the ether. Enabling from the website at least once is IMPORTANT. Offline enabling after the first online enabling works.
I'd install webman mod and multiMAN. You can use multiMAN to do it all but I like the interface of webman and being able to launch games from the XMB.
I just want backup games so the disks can be put away and I can play the games without fuss.
I have not ventured into PSN games or retro games.
If you have questions I can provide (limited) help. Good luck.

I was searching JUST for a thread like this....

What is the best homebrew for

PS1 backups
PS2 Backups (maybe ISO)
PS3 Backups?

I've heard of ManaGunz, MultiMan, WebMan and i'm not really sure which one works the best on PS3HEN. I have a super slim so real CFW is out for me (for now)

I have only backed up my PS3 disk games to the internal HDD. The super/slims will not read PS2 disks. They come up as "unsupported format". I did FTP in a PS2 game in ISO format but cant get it to run. I can get it to mount using webMAN but no further. I dont own any PS1 games.
Using multiman I installed the PS2 Placeholder pkg but I'm not sure how to use it.
I tried to install a game that has files over 4gb (GT6) but I think those can only be installed externally. I'm not going to get into that/those.
If anyone has ideas/links to tutorials then I'm willing to give the PS2 games another shot.
I want to try retroarch but not sure how or if they'll work.

Thank you so much. I greatly appreciate it.

I think I got it installed successfully, I have package manager and "enable HEN" under games.

Although my PSN icons didn't turn red which I think they are supposed to do?

I will try to add webman/multiman later but too busy right now, just wanted to thank you!!

sounds like bad usb stick or maybe an error during copying, try to re-download the file and then copy it over again.

I just used a couple videos from a youtuber named MrMario2011.. If you don't have HAN installed, use that video first. Then follow his HEN tutorial. Things will be slightly different because of the version change, but generally, the tuts are easy to follow.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

i dont have an sd card adapter but I have an usb sd card adapter

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

    nvm it does support mine
