Is that even possible?! How do youbplay online without the WFC servers to do it on?!
I have no Idea, but you can play it right now!

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I mean Wiimmfi and RiiConnect24 are still active and trying to bring back functionality to the Wii.
I hope someday, everyone that has a functional wii, can play again as before the shutdown. It sucks that it all went downhill so fast.

DO you have the game?

Actually I still religiously use it as a dedicated 8/16 bit emulation machine. If you throw in N64 VC and backwards compatibility with the GC it's the ultimate emulation machine.
What makes is so special do you ask me ? The Wii is capable to output 240p RGB signal. If you have a properly connected CRT TV, you can play all those games in their most natural form, 240p !! Even the emulated GBA looks better then I've ever seen. No input lag, no blocky graphics, and a multitude of controllers to enjoy your games in any way you prefer. Mine has the GC controller ports and I''m able to use an Arcade stick with most emulators.
Of course I can do all of those things on a PC, but nowadays is very, very difficult to connect a modern PC to a CRT TV without some expensive converter which by the way, is bound to introduce input lag no matter what.

I'm just so mad at Retroarch Wii for being so broken, always forgetting the settings, crushing, locking up........ Anyway, my Wii is the only retro console still hooked up and regularly used, although most Wii games look way better on Dolphin at 1080p/60fps of course ;).
I'll be playing it for as long as the tube TV will survive !

Hey man, sorry for kinda necroing but, what arcade stick are you using? I've been looking for one for the Wii like crazy but it's not clear to me, many people say they don't work on emulators, others say they only work with the GameCube...which one do you have? any tips?

Tatsunoko vs capcom stick for wii works great with retroarch and it's also quite good.

Can someone just lock this post? You could’ve sent him a PM, and you bought up a dead topic for no reason. It doesn’t even fit with the context of the post!
Did the slight necro physically hurt you or something? The poster is a new poster, how would he know the person talking about the stick was still an active member, or for that matter remembered what stick/where from etc? If this was a 10yo topic fair enough, but it's just a few months old, chill out sunbeam ;)

New users can't send PMs ;) And it's good to have the info publicly, so that if he answers then everyone can see it.

Besides, this subforum is fairly slow... having more activity doesn't hurt.

Im using one Hori arcade stick and two Dreamgear arcade sticks. All 3 work great, but you will need an adapter so that the nes/snes emulators recognize them properly. They also help out with MAME to not get buggy controls. Here’s a vid I did that shows my setup. Hope it helps you.

Emulators territory - Sunshine
Apps/tools territory - Good! but some can be optimized.
New games - Poor.
This last territory seems disappointed for me. I dont know how is complex develop games for Wii but i see that many other platforms have good recent projects, mainly in retro scenario.

1- The people that can actually program new games are buys with other platforms and are few ( https://wiibrew.org/wiki/User:Owen ) .
2. The audience for these new games is small unless its a port or something really complicated.
3. its not too complex to develop new games but it does take some amount of effort and programming smarts.
4. someone needs to build a new HBB but since the audience is so small and the releases are so few it might be a chicken or a egg problem.

Still waiting on that really good "Wii64" emulator update..../s
we all know that's long and dead on the wii. there is Not64 but's just barely better than "honey" with games I've tried.
As for the scene. it's in a crawl state, but considering the Dreamcast is still active in spurts proves that homebrew will exist as long as there is interest in the hardware.

I hope that homebrew scene will last for decades... wii is by far the best (if not the only) console for 240p emulation but in some cases (N64 and psx for instance) there is vast room for improvement.

I think that evolution in emulator will be slow. The solution can be in Virtual Console. VC proved N64 games run satisfactory. Better put hope in some kind of "injection" like is happening in others systems.

They have some injections that work quite well and others not so much. like mace the dark age... that one was horrible, slow and basically unplayable. who knows what the future holds. I love my little white box,it's my retro mecca! I got a 30 in sanyo CRT and allows me to play, conquer and enjoy games I couldn't in my youth. sure PCs allow this as well, but call me old school CRT with retro gaming is perfection and my personal happy place.
