Service for the Ouya will be ending next month

The end is near for the Ouya. No, you haven't time-traveled back to 2013; official support for the failed little Android gaming box will be coming to a halt next month, after six years. On June 25th, parent company Razer will be shutting down services for the Ouya, meaning you will no longer be able to purchase games, use any remaining funds, or be able to play games that require online validation checks. If you do happen to have an Ouya, and games for it, you'll still be able to download any titles that you've previously bought. Additionally, Razer will also be shutting down their ForgeTV and MadCatz MOJO services on the same date.

Though the Ouya was considered dead on arrival by many, this marks the official end of the system's life.

RIP. I didn't enjoy it at all when I owned one. The OS interface sucked, was slow, and felt like a cheap Android app ontop of crappy hardware (which it was). The controller sucked, with the triggers being particularly terrible. It was just overall a mediocre to crappy experience.

But it introduced me to The Amazing Frog, so I have a soft spot for it.

It was expected. Look at the cringy controller that will cringe your fingers big time and the name Ouya sounds like you're summoning some ghosts from the death or spirits to answer your filthy questions.

It runs pretty well once tweaked unnecessary services turned off and fully rooted and alternative Launcher.

I used TV Launcher and AptoidTV.

But need to get a higher Firmware Cyanagen Mod or something.

The potential is there for it to be an emulation machine, but at this point, if I want a cheap emulation machine, I'd just buy a preassembled Retro Pie system online.

Yeah that would be expensive and you'd probably need a sizable install base to make this work.
Anyone remember those PC's that would "never be obsolete" because they had "lifetime upgrades" in the 90's and 2000's?
Yep, pretty much the same scheme. It's basically leasing an Android console and then selling the off-lease equipment as basic models to offset the cost of the upgrade. It's hard to pull off, for sure.
