Well from what I've seen its played in portrait mode with auto acceleration and swipe to steer. Each character has theyre own single weapon and its all known courses from across the franchise but modernised for this instalment.
There is a video but not sure i can link to another forum?

Just got my install link.
EDIT: Controls SUCK.
Swipe to steer.
Auto-accel always.
Tap to use items.
Everything seems to like... level up with stats and stuff.
Appears to be a stamina system.
There's also gyro support in settings (tilt phone to steer).
"Emeralds" are used as loot box style purchase to get drivers, karts, wings, etc. Picking a certain rider, kart, glider combo will give you bonuses on a map. For example on Mario SNES stage, if you pick Mario, his kart, his glider, you can hold up to 3 items at a time. If you didn't pick boosted character, kart, glider, you'd be stuck with 1 item at a time.
Graphics are nice.
