Hardware New Pro Controller D-PAD design

So Nintendo has changed the D-pad on the pro controller. It seems to work much better, and there are definitely less mis-presses when going back and forth quickly.

Seems the "nub" is flatter, some more plastic on the inside for "stability" (just like system updates), and it's not as curved. I haven't done any actual measurements though.

New on left, old on right.

So far, about 80% of the boxes with "D" on the Pro Controller box, above the UPC, have the revised nub. I have opened some that still have the old one also though.

I just bought 2 pro controllers, but cant find any "D" or "UPC" on the box. Maybe because its the EUR version?

I guess the only way to really know for sure if it's the new or old D-PAD is by is taking apart the controller

The EUR box looks a little different. No wonder i could not find the letter "D"

I am a little tempted to open them and find out, but i'll probably do it another time.

Looks like the vertical letters/numbers on the side of the UPC is where it's at on the EUR version.

The weird thing, is that is supposed to correspond with a revision for the packaging or wording on the box itself. Not a difference with the controller. I'm not sure what the differences are with A/B/C here in the US.

Thanks for the info. Did you test the new design for incorrect inputs on the Switch controller test?
Also, did you happen to take any pictures of the rubber membranes, inner plastic shell and the controller PCB's? Just wanted to see if anything else differs even slightly other than the D-pad piece.

The rubber parts i'm not sure about, but the shell and PCB both were the exact same, with the same revision numbers on them.

Thanks, just had one more question if you dont mind - does the new D-pad 'feel' any different to the old D-pad design in the way it moves? I know the old design can be pressed down in the centre a fair amount, so wondered if the new design changes this at all.

I just bought a Japanese controller a few days ago. Not only is there no D above the bar code, there are no letters at all. It just says (I think) that it's for sale inside of Japan only.

Inside the flap it says BCF-HAC-A-FSSK-JPN-CO which is maybe useful to someone who knows what it means.

The d has nothing to do with a fix. If it actually has been fixed. All 3 of my controllers register phantom presses on up. I gave up and just decided to fix them by building up tape under the post. I have lost faith in Nintendo caring to fix it.
