Hi,
I'm RGHing my Xbox 360 Jasper for the first time (and yeah I'm not great at soldering either) anyway I've soldered the wires for the JR Programmer, plugged it in (xbox plugged in not powered on) and the lights are NOT flashing Hmmm.. So I tried to read it anyway and get this:
Version: 10
Flash Config: 0x00000000
Can not Continue

I've re-soldered it 5 times maybe more, not sure as I'm losing the plot (so is the Mrs with me) What am I doing wrong?
I've added pics of my soldering and J Runner, is there something I'm missing am I supposed to do something to JR first? Is everything in the right place?
Many thanks,
Dan.

Make sure none of the points are bridging and clean up all solder splash

Make sure jr programmer drivers are installed and its detected

Make sure no bridges underneath motherboard on solder points

Personally I would clean that up as much as possible and re-solder as clean as possible

Try different USB ports as well

I'm pretty sure my USB cable/port is ok (but tried diff ports anyway) as it detects it and I've even flashed it with PICFLASH_E_1_0_5-JRP-V2.HEX in case it was bad and it went fine, I'm just getting another torx now for the centre black screws on the bottom (yeah I know I would have to do it anyway to do the rest of the wiring) so will let you know when I check my soldering underneath.
Thanks.

Can not continue is almost 100% soldering issue if rest is setup correctly.

OK, So I've no idea how this happened all I can think is I'm an idiot, but I soldered them in the WRONG PLACE!! Yeah, I know right DUH!! Anyway It's working so far, I've dumped my nand and compared it and it's fine, I've programmed my timing file ok.
Now I've done some of the solderings but am stuck on the PLL by TP7R3 and wonder if there's an alternative as I cannot do this and am going to knacker the console!
PLEASE HELP!!
Dan.

Most points for Rgh are very small points and close to other joints connections, and their alt points are much smaller so some decent soldering experience and steady fingers is preferred for a successful glitch, I'd recommend simply practicing on other boards before doing Rgh, IT IS POSSIBLE TO DAMAGE CONSOLE BEYOND REPAIR IF YOU SHORT OR LIFT TRACES

Tin the point 1st

Drop a dab of flux over point then ad some solder to your iron - Very steadily ad solder to the point. Once thats done ad a little more flux and solder wire. Its not that hard even though it looks tiny. Magnify glasses help if you don't have a scope.

I'll give it another go tomorrow when there's better daylight, my soldering iron is very pointy and just wont hold solder, I also have to have it very high temp as the point doesn't get hot enough really it's this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077Q75H35/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Do you know (if I can't do it) if there is an alternate point?

Best to not rush it and get frustrated. Another tip is route wire first and tape it down as close to point as possible and tack solder the bitch in.

I've found out the alternative is to solder to the leg of the resistor just next to it, still small but looks a lot easier than that point. Will try that tip of yours tomorrow too!
Thanks.

I own several Rgh, jtags and a dev kit (I own Nintendo "consoles" too but not at liberty to discuss) , Rgh can be extremely difficult to solder (ESCPECIALLY if the person is not well experienced), every tutorial will tell you that, you need to have good soldering skills, Rgh points especially clk, pllbypass, cpurst, are the size of the ball in a ballpoint pen, if you literally just picked up a soldering and try soldering Hana (if needed), pll, and rst connections, you can quickly short out something or completely lift the pad which dependeding where may destroy the console, lmao yeah stupid people are the one who will keep asking for softmods after being told it's not possible (literally since dash 8498

Yeah, I'm not new to soldering I've been doing it about 1-2 years but I'm not great at it and my iron tip is very thin and pointy (there was a few complaints about it in the comments on Amazon) which should be great for this micro soldering but you can't load it with solder and yeah my work station looks pretty cool but it's very cheap (about £50) so sometimes it flows instantly, other times it can just do nothing!!
Talking about a bad workman always blames his tools so I think I'm just gonna pay someone to do it or buy one (may have a go on my old Zephyr that has no drive).
Thanks!

Plus Jasper's can be finicky when trying to rgh, so make sure you have the connections short, and make the connections as neat as possible, make sure both nand dumps are the same or else you can brick the console

Yeah, I dumped the nand no problem and compared them fine, it's just the PLL I'm stuck on. I thought it may have been easier soldering to the leg on the resistor just below it but I still had problems and ended up bridging two points (won't plug it in obviously till it's sorted and hope it's still ok?).
Think I'm too old and shakey to be taking this micro soldering up lol (46) I'm a fully qualified plumber so been doing other soldering for years but only started electrical soldering 1-2 years now.
Thanks.

Zephyrs are the worst to RGH excluding Xenon

Jaspers RGH 1.2 is gives sweet boot times. Trinity is probably the easiest to RGH

Desolder wick and try again.

I don't have any wick at the moment but will probably just buy a pre-modded 360 till I get better and will try again! There's a couple for sale at the moment one's a Falcon HDMI with RGH and LT3 and comes with a week trial of XBonline +20gb hdd for £50, sounds a pretty sweet deal (just waiting for the Mrs to let me spend some of my money LMAO!!). I really should have practised on the Zephyr as could have possibly wrecked it? I've cleaned it up a bit and took off all the wires but get a RROD, Oh well, you live you learn lol.

Tbh you can buy a Trinity on eBay, note console region doesn't matter either with jtag/rgh so ntsc and pal consoles will function the same (plus hdtvs are multisystem and will support ntsc and pal so even video output isn't really an issue), usually for a pre modded console runs like 50 to 110 euro average, jtaggable consoles (if you find one on blades dash pop up) 90- 150 euro (150 for maybe a jasper or falcon)
