For the Jet Set Radio (PAL) 16:9 hex patch, its actually the jet.bin that needs to be patched (isnt stated in the thread on assemblergames.com

Also - I cant get the Shenmue 1 Passport 16:9 hex patch to work (code in the shenmuedojo thread linked in here), game will crash after sega logo.

If anyone has more success with that, please state it in this thread, so I can try again. :)

On ReiNX I'm not sure how to load the HBmenu the way you're talking about (Loading a switch game while holding R). I've looked it up on ReiNX's website too. I'm on 8.0.0. Any help?

I’m on FW 7.0.1 but shouldn’t make a difference

So basically launch a nsp game you have installed but when you launch it hold down R trigger and don’t let go

It will seem like it’s launching the game but then it will open to your homebrew menu. From there you can let go of R and open up reicast nro, or retroarch.

Guess by doing this it clears out the ram and gives reicast all the ram available so it doesn’t keep crashing. Hope this helps

On a side note I couldn’t get PPSSPP or MupenN64 emulators to work but with the R trigger thing both works perfect now too.

Here's a bunch of games I've tried. You might notice I'm mostly only interested in exclusives that's why there's no Sonic Adventures, Jet Set Radio etc....

Working games I've tried:
D2
Ooga Booga
Illbleed
Fighting Vipers 2
Project Justice
Carrier
Capcom vs SNK Millennium Collection
WWF Royal Rumble
Virtua Fighter 3TB
Suzuki Alstare Extreme Racing
Surf Rocket Racers
Spawn In The Demon's Hand
Shenmue
Draconus Cult of the Wyrm
Daytona USA 2001
Zombie Revenge
Sword of the Berserk
Rippin Riders Snowboarding
Plasma Sword
Cosmic Smash
ChuChu Rocket!
Blue Stinger
Cannon Spike

Not working or problems:
Fire Pro Wrestling D (graphical glitches)
4 Wheel Thunder (not working)
Omikron The Nomad Soul (not working)
So Shenmue is working? I saw it has issues in previous post, I wonder how severe those are.

Can confirm, after getting reicast to work properly that these games run at full speed:

- Power Stone 1

- House of the Dead 2

- Zombie Revenge

- Cannon Spike

Runs but lags (frame rate seems slower than original):

- Dead or Alive 2

- Dynamite Cop

Crashes and doesn’t run

- Hydro Thunder (one of my favorite DC games)

Will keep checking others

Proof that I found sailors - also you see some of the texture glitches in the video.

:)

And the hex edit to have no clipping in the 16:9 area (see a few posts prior).

Those are all caused by the emulation (reicast alpha), not by the hexedit. Game is pretty much spotless (no issues at all) in reicast on lakka.

JSR and Omikron Intro (the second dropping frames at 1.2Ghz CPU OC but by jebus I had to capture it. :))

Both 16:9 hex patched.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

What's this hexedit?
Read this topic. (Step by step is already in here.)

Its a hex edit that modifies the games internal aspect ratio to be 16:9 once stretched, together with clipping fixes for the areas outside of the 4:3 rectangle. Its everything the 16:9 widescreen hack in the reicast options cant do.

The only downside is, that 2D overlay art (menu items, clock) will be stretched - as you can see in the video. Upside is, you dont get the constant clipping everywhere outside the 4:3 rectangle in Shenmue anymore. Which is kind of huge. :)

Also - it allows games to be run at 16:9 unstretched, that dont work with the widescreen hack in reicast options. Like Omikron. But its game specific, so you have to look up the corresponding hex hack for every game you want to modify.

I see, it's cool for people who can't stand black borders lol, I prefer 4:3 native res :)

4:3 native res and black borders don't bother me, but it's nice to have different options and i will try this later on.

Is this link broken or do you have to be a member to download the GDI to CHD tool from here?

I didn't play it very long. Someone after said there were texture issues.

Those $15 Bluetooth dongles work great. They have usb ports on the bottom you can plug into
Nah man Brook adapters are the way to go. Like less than a frame of input lag and they are easy to use.
I'm getting 2 for my PS2 first then maybe a few for my friend who owns a hacked Switch.

Because on this emulator, sound works on the Switch internal video captures (when launched with a game that does support video captures, or with the .nsp HB Menu Loader Legal) - here is a little turotal how to quickly string together several video captures, and make a video out of them.

Basically install an open source software called mp4box (which is part of GPAC (https://gpac.wp.imt.fr/downloads/) Mac version also available via brew), navigate into the folder your videos are in. Rename them in order of appearance 1.mp4, 2.mp4 and so on. Open a terminal, shell or command window, navigate to your folder - and simply enter:

mp4box -add 1.mp4 -cat 2.mp4 -cat 3.mp4 -cat 4.mp4 -cat 5.mp4 -cat 6.mp4 -cat 7.mp4 output.mp4

(if you have 7 videos in your folder, if more, more, if less - less. :) )

And thats it. The videos will get spliced together, so they arent rendered again, which makes this very fast. And its multi platform. I use it all the time, as you might have guessed. :)

Actually I use 1.2 GHz CPU overclock and 384 MHz GPU overclock in all the reicast games as a base setting (using sys-clk (only works in Atmosphere afaik)), so that might be it. :)

Quite a few games will actually be playable that way - once the texture and text loading issues have been ironed out.

FMVs stil require 1.7 GHz CPU OC - which is entirely odd. And might be the same issue, as PPSSPP on retroarch ran into (if reicast is using ffmpeg as well) - which was fixed, by reverting to an older ffmpeg version (link to an indepth discussion already in this thread)), or not. ;)
