If you can, get one of the early slim models which can be hacked to install full cfw...Otherwise it doesn't really matter if it's slim (later models) or super slim (in terms of PS3HEN anyways).

Stick to cfw.Fats are cheaper.2000-2500 models can be expensive, but if you find one at a good price, get it.If i was going to get a ps3 just for hen i would get a superslim since its quiter and smaller.

Get a 21xx or 20xx if you want cfw, i got lucky to exchange my 3xxx for a 2101 with a friend 2 years ago, and then i downgraded with e3. For hen only, a sslim can get the job done.

Edit: be careful with 25xx models, because some of them are patched, 3xxx are a no go, btw there's a chart out there!

Good luck :D.

A super slim is way better because it doesn't overheat by design.
I have tried the HEN 2.0.1 on my super slim pretty thoroughly and it runs as stable as my CFW slim.
The few that crashes that occur happen with webman on both consoles when mounting one at times.
With webman mod you can enable dynamic fan control so it won't ever get too hot.
And if the thermal paste should someday dry up, you can replace it directly on the chip, no delidding necessary like it is with all other models.
My slim 2004A is pretty loud to stay under 68°C, but my super slim is pretty quiet at 27% fan speed.

After many years of reballing ps3

The best models are slim 200x - 25xx - Super slims and phats were the worst

cech2501B dated april 2011 or before are good - always check minverchk to be 100%

@budtoka420 Yep, you can check the minimum downgradable firmware with the HEN tools as of 2.0 I think.
If it is 3.55 it will work with the PS3Xploit downgrader.
If webman mod turns up the fans to be way too loud after you set it to dynamic, you should also at least replace the thermal paste ontop of the internal heatsink.
To change it out underneath you need to be very skilled though, so I wouldn't take that risk.
