Ouch. Do you have a nand backup?
Yeah, but no programmer (which aren't easy to find at a competitive price, which is annoying since I would love the educational experience in flashing it myself - at least if it doesn't involve removing the nand from the board)

I thought Project M shut down. Is it revived?
The development team stopped working on it (I think because of growing fear of the possibility of litigation from Nintendo), but there have been forks of it that either add cosmetic and/or functional changes (i.e. adding new characters, stages, etc.). The one I play with my mates is Legacy XP 2.0 TE, but there are other versions like Project Plus. There are still a decent number of Project M tournaments that are held, definitely take a look at /r/smashbros if you're interested.

Do you have BootMii installed? Either v2 or IOS version should be sufficient iirc -- it's been a hot second since I've done any modding with the Wii, so not 100% sure if IOS can help with NAND backups.

No, you'd need Priiloader (which depends on the Wii Menu ios) to run Bootmii IOS - and even then it can't restore a backup without a gamecube controller (due to an arbitrary restriction in the official ppcboot.elf)

Like promised, I now have a second Wii, black, now hacked. I also got with it the power thingy from Skylanders (no doll, though), a couple wii motes (one with built-in Wii motion + and one add-on but I don't think it is reliable because the connector is loose), a nunchuck, a steering wheel. Only lacking was a video cable, but I managed that, having all video cables already.

Now it is in my home office, right here next to me. I'll use this one probably for non waving things, because the sensor bar is a nuisance...

I love the Wii and thought that that passion would never end...
...that is until the WiiU came along. Now I get everything the Wii offered, and some.
So in short, I can still run all the the old Wii games, Gamecube games, and Homebrew, but now I can play all of them on the tablet screen as well as the TV. Not only that but I have access to an expanded commercial library, not to mention compatibility with most Nintendo DS, N64, and Gameboy Advanced titles!!! Again, all from the tablet controller or the TV.

Having said all that, I do still keep a classic Wii connected, though I have it set to boot straight into USB Loader GX so that I can control my Wii through a Gamecube controller, and not require the use of the Wiimote unless I am playing a game that demands it.

As for new software, DOOM, Heretic, Hexen, and Strife, are still being worked on and updates are posted here in the Wii section of the forums. The WiiU homebrew scene on the other hand seems deader. :(

Yes I myself am a HUGE Wii fan. It's the first console I ever modded myself (@XFlak thanks ModMii).

In fact I have modded close to 50 of them now and because of my OCD 32 of them are just for myself, 4 of each type plus 4 to mess around with or trade.

I started with one of each color/type, then a backup of each color/type and now am up to what I have. I figure the extras can be traded at some point, but for now they sit waiting for my game wall to be built. The game wall area is just a mock-up right now to determine space needed. That's my view at least, the wife says I'm a hoarder.

I haven't used my Wii much lately but its days are far from over. When I bought it in 2007 it was kind of like an investment, since I had stopped gaming for a few years and missed the entire GameCube generation. For a while, the only games I owned besides Wii Sports were classic GC games I picked up cheap, then I eventually started collecting Wii games. There are a few games from both gens that I'm planning to replay someday soon.

For the most part, I've enjoyed the motion controls. It bugged me when they just made a *waggle* replace a *button press*, or the motion you were expected to make didn't match up with what's happening in the game, but otherwise I tried to embrace them.

For a while around 2009-2013, I was in a strange living situation with no Internet and an old TV, so the Wii was both my media player (MPlayer CE) and my only way of stealing WiFi from a nearby bar.

A few weeks ago I almost bought an Xbox One from somebody selling it very cheap locally, but they ghosted me. Aside from that, I've never had much interest in the latest gen.

Yesterday in fact I was replaying Art Style: Penta Tentacles / Rotozoa and trying a game named Help Wanted: 50 Wacky Jobs, a Hudson title before they were eaten by Konami. The videos I saw before deciding trying it out made it look kinda "meh", although to be fair Classic Game Room Undertow has the ability to make most games look uninteresting...

Ahhh CGR Undertow. I disagreed with Derek a lot but He always covered my two favorite consoles, Wii and GBA. Not to get too far off topic, but I miss Undertow; it's sad what CGR has become but that isn't here nor there.

Yeah, I disagreed many times with Derek too, and the comments of the videos show that many other people felt the same. But hey, to each their own. Besides, it's not like I even consider those videos actual "reviews" or analysis, to me they're small comments, videos showing off games from a variety of systems, and that's perfectly fine.

I watched it a lot back in the day, and even today I think they're useful to get a quick snippet of a game as they did many, many videos. They're still a decent help when researching old games.

I miss Classic Game Room in general too. I miss everything being compared to TRUXTON.
Man, those times look so quaint today...

Yes, I can help you out with your renewed Wii Mini modding quest.

I did see your post a couple days back and also another post somewhere on here with possible new Wii Mini mod options that might work. While considering what to do I had not decided to act and offer one of mine up yet.

PM me and we'll work out the details.

I actually don't have my old Wii set up for the current online scene, but I still use it frequently, at least twice a week. Between GameCube, Wii and emulators alone, the system has a massive library of awesome titles. If you put me on a deserted island and told me I could only pick one of my consoles as-is to bring, no PC gaming, the Wii would almost certainly win out over my other modded systems.
