TX Presents SX OS v2.7 BETA - Full v8.0.1 Compatible!

Good day, friends! We are pleased to announce the release of SX OS 2.7 beta.
SXOS27.jpg

Well, if you been waiting to try out 'boost mode' in Zelda or play MK11, well no more waiting, you can now update and enjoy! :)
This update brings full compatibility with firmware 8.0.0 and 8.0.1. All your favorite SX OS functionality (emuNAND, XCI emulation, cheats, etc.) should work as intended.

SX OS v2.7 beta is available on our website and through our Online Update right now!

We keep getting excellent feedback from our users, and have accumulated a nice todo list for new SX OS functionality. Its been almost a year since our initial release, but we promise we're still actively working on adding new features and improving existing ones.

Of course, behind the scenes we are also still working hard on our solution for those "unhackable" switches. Good progress is being made, so hang in there!
That's it for today, keep checking back for more updates!

But, does SX OS have (user accessable) KIP Support (which is legitimately useful for overclocking), proper Reboot to Payload and Fatal? Hmmm...?

Overclocking would be nice and hopefully gets added soon. I don't even know what those other 2 are or are useful for lol

Emunand and HDD loading are still the biggie features mate, and you know it.

Reboot to Payload is when you hit the restart button (instead of restarting your switch on OFW). It reboots to a specified payload on the SD Card. Fatal is for when the switch crashes it gives you an option to reboot to a payload. Taking away the annoyance to be forced to turn your switch.

They have more features than other cfw so have more things that can break and have to do more testing.

my advice mate, don't feed the trolls - essasetic, lacius or blahblah

alternatively.. we can all go into the atmosphere threads and post in them how atmos DOES NOT HAVE USB loading, XCI loading or EMUNAND and when is it going to have it? But no, SX OS users don't do that because we realise people choose the CFW they want for the features they want and EVERYONE has the right to choose.

It is only some poor (literally and figuratively) trolls who want there to be a monopoly and dictate what everyone should be using.

USB HDD loading is already available (in some form) on a Goldleaf debug build. And EmuNAND will probably come out on June 15th ;)

Yeah... no lol

I got a taste of both worlds. I was an SX OS user (I still have a licence for it on my HDD). Sorry for responding to someone who had a question.

Ok, they do seem pretty cool. Especially the crashing one as often I play homebrew that crashes. But those are still very small features to having complete security from bans with emunand or loading games off of a 2 terabyte hard drive.

Fair enough. Those features are being worked on. XorTroll is working on USB HDD (but focusing more on Goldleaf being able to navigate through your PC drives) and EmuNAND will come on Atmosphere 1.0

At least they haven't been promising CFW for ipatched consoles for nearly a year now. I can play that game too.

Ha hahah ha... no wait, it's not even funny it's just a poor comparison of something that NO CFW can do compared to features which DO work on SX OS and don't exist at all on other CFW.

so,,getting on to some ACTUAL INFORMATION and doing a REAL comparison, I looked at my posts from 12th March and updated it to current information.

SX OS:

Pros:
XCI files - can mount and play XCI files direct from USB (no need to copy to SD card)
- No need to install each game, just mount and they run - just like inserting a cartridge.
- XCI files do not install tickets so *POTENTIALLY* are not as detectable as NSP files.
USB storage - NSP files can be installed to SD card direct from USB storage, no need for PC. Useful on long journeys.
EmuEMMC / emuNAND - makes it potentially possible to dodge a banned console due to no records kept in system NAND (online play under emuNAND not recommended however).
- different official firmware versions can be installed in system and emuNAND (no fuses are burned)

Cons:
Official software support is usually a couple of weeks after the update comes out.
Costs money - $30 USD (comparison to SD card cost not valid as SD cards massive drop in prices recently).
Cannot use KIPs advanced features - like custom kernel modules (Overclocking module, etc)
MUST use the jig and payload injector on every cold boot (personally, if you're regularly powering off completely, then why? just leave the Switch in sleep mode).

Free CFW:

Pros:
Official firmware 8.0 support usually added just a few days after it is released.
No cost - just the included cost of your SD card for it to be installed on.
Can use KIPs advanced features - like custom kernel modules (Overclocking module, etc).
Can warm reboot payload from CFW (RCM jig still neede for cold boot).

Cons:
No XCI mounting.
No USB storage.
No emuEMMC / emuNAND.

Keep in mind that BOTH options allow installing of NSP titles to SD card and systemNAND (or emuNAND if using SX OS) via USB cable and NUT or SX server.
Both systems allow use of homebrew and backing up save games to alternate computers / storage for safe keeping.

The age old question - which CFW should I use?
Look at the pros and con feature lists and see which features are must have items for you.

Do you want overclocking? Then choose atmosphere.

Do you want loading and playing XCI images direct from USB HDD or USB stick? Then choose SX OS.

Don't want to spend any money at all? The choice is made for you - atmosphere.

So *IS* SX OS worth purchasing RIGHT NOW?
Both free CFW and SX OS have 8.0 support, so decide on which features you want and whether the cost is worth it TO YOU.

Installing nsp files from external HDD is fine but it will never come close to the convenience of mounting xci from external HDD. Right now I'm making my own xci repacks with their latest update on the same xci file and playing them from a thumb drive. It has worked great! It also works on handheld mode with a usb c male to usb A female adapter. It works best with big games like MK 11 and Wolfenstein II. Now that is a feature I'll miss if I try out Atmos when they implement emunand. I'll probably switch between the two cfw and enjoy the best of both worlds without having to speak trash nor envy anything.

Installing more than 10 games means one won't be playing them all no? Why the need to have hundreds? That'd surely be overwhelming no?

I never said hundreds. I actually play my games and I was missing playing some like Wolfenstein II for example because i did not want to bother erasing many small games to make space for the big ones + the required update. Thanks to HDD xci mounting and xci with updates repacks now I'm using and old thumb drive I had and playing the games I was missing out without worrying about space management. It's awesome.

no offence, but sounds like you do not have children :)

Two great kids actually.:)
I'm just not for the idea of spreading thin the attention. I recall back in the days (SEGA Genesis) having a handful of 5 games was enough for serious video gaming. But Switching games every 1 minute?

Even if he did. Pretty sure they wouldn't play 100s of games at once. I mean just have Fortnite and they'll be occupied for hours.

Not every kid likes Fortnite.. I know mine and a friend of mine's children hate it - other friend's children love it. Same goes for Minecraft not everyone likes it.

My oldest will regularly just randomly try games from the 4TB USB HDD to see if she likes them, then install the XCI (which has the DLC and updates already applied) to the SD card if we're travelling somewhere.. or she will load the SD card with multiplayer games if we're going to a house with other kids so they can all play together.

haha! if your kids concentrate on one game for more than a minute then you are a lucky person! It annoys me when mine play something for 5 minutes then exit and play something else.. but I'm an old gamer who grew up playing games on Atari 2600, Colecovision, Commodore 64 and there were no save games, or save points.. if you died, you started again :)
