Nintendo claims that it has "nothing new to announce" in regards to first-party 3DS games

The end might just be nigh for the little handheld. Around this time last year, Nintendo promised investors that they would continue to support the Nintendo 3DS, with ports such as Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, Mario & Luig: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser JR's Journey, and Luigi's Mansion, alongside a new game in the form of WarioWare Gold. Now that fiscal year 2018 has come and gone, it's time to look towards the future; one that doesn't seem to focus the the small system. In the latest investor briefing, the only mention of the 3DS was comparing the Nintendo Switch to its sales numbers.

Company analysts forecast that around 1 million systems will still be shifted throughout 2019, though there is no word on any further first party releases. If you still haven't upgraded to the Nintendo Switch, you'll still have an upcoming title at least, in the form of Atlus' Persona Q2. Currently, over 75 million 3DS systems have been sold, with 378 million games for it, in the eight years that it's been on the market.

Look at just about any 3DS run through Citra at 720p/1080p. Compare the results to what you see on a Switch. Not entirely, but for the most part, that's what I'd expect if they'd release Metroid: Samus Returns on Switch.
but the 3ds itself cant run hd so there is basically no point in making more games for it, with emulators you can always make games look better and run better, you can even play atari games in 4k that doesnt mean devs should make games for atari just because you can play them at 4k on an emulator...

Now we only have 1 library of Nintendo games being developed, no longer will there be an alternate handheld library, just the same games smeared across both hand held and tv, that sucks. The switch has done more damage, first the paywall now this, no good.

why would you want to have 2 librarys where ones is mostly just inferiro versions of the home games? i mean besides pokemon and such most nintendo handheld games were just inferior versions to their console counterparts, wich can now be made with switch graphics.

My Switch is gathering dust (and it's hacked, 6.2.0 with Atmosphere 0.8.2), while my New 3DS XL (which is also hacked, Luma 9.1) has been getting so much love every night.

Did you guys know that there's _hardware_ support for DS and GBA games on the 3DS? As in, it has dedicated CPUs for running those types of games. Not to mention the ~3x battery life compared to a Switch. And the 3D effect is really nice in a lot of the games that I've played. There's really nothing quite like it on the market. The DS library alone is chuck full of JRPGs and good puzzle games and platformers.

I have been playing on my old PSP 200 to play Disgaea 1 and 2 for two weeks now. My 3DS was ignored for years until Pokemon Sun and Moon came out. Then I hacked it. Then I was crazy about it during the Summer but now I haven touched it in like a month.

Heck I been using my PS3 to play Playstation games but now I wanna try to convert a few PS1 games so they play in my PSP.

The point is, yes the 3DS support is ending but it has way more games that the Switch does.

I guess there's no chance that Monster Tale Ultimate is going to emerge from its development hell.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who remembered the Monster Tale Remake. The DS version was pretty entertaining. Any reason why the supposed release date of over a year ago never took place?

Because have you seen how cheap the games are now?
Fair enough but I like to play games as soon as they come out and not wait months til reduced plus I rent games which saves a lot of cash as keeping the game doesn't really bother me
