Despite trying different games, SD cards (25gb+) and a different HDD, I just can't seem to get disc2app to rip my original games. I can load the app fine from homebrew and I can enter the menu which gives me to option to select the destination. Once I select the SD or external HDD, I then insert the game disc and can see it will recognize it as i provides the title ID (eg. WUP-P-AMKP) but then will stop at that point.

The condition of the games are good and therefore it's not the discs. I've tried about 6 different games so far which will cause disc2app to cease at the same point. It's not the Any recommendations on things I could try would be appreciated.

FAT 32K Cluster Size Formatted SD Card I use a SanDisk 64GB 90MBs Read and had no problems with the only Game I needed to use it for which was Mass Effect 3.

I use HaxChi to HomeBrew Loader then Load Mocha with FS Hax. Then Load Disc2App.

All went well. I Then proceeded to install via Wup Installer GX.

Thanks for your suggestion Core. I did go through all the posts on the disc2app thread (https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-disc2app-dump-installable-app-files-from-wiiu-game-disc.460668/) and understood that any CFW and homebrew launcher was all required to get the app working correctly. I also couldn't see any mention of the app freezing at the same point mine is.

I've yet to run Mocha though prior to running disc2app like your doing. I have Sandisk and Samsung SD cards and currently using a 32GB version so there's sufficient space. Will reformat again in 32k to ensure its not the cards but I'm away from home for a few days so will try it on my return. Fingers crossed.

i know this is a fairly old thread but i had the same problem and ducking for it brought it up again as the first entry.
Anyway, if disc2app freezes after inserting the Disc you selected the wrong storage drive.
The WiiU USB drive (if formated for use with the WiiU) isnt FAT32 so that won't work and disc2app will freeze.
But since disc2app wont install the disc right away but just bring it into a format that can be installed afterwards, selecting the FAT32 SD Card shouldnt be a problem.

Basically make sure your SD Card is FAT32 Formatted and select it in disc2app.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
