What firmware and version of CFW are you running?

You can try the Qcean Discord Server: https://discordapp.com/invite/CjTZKPB

Just use ReiNX. ReiNX has signature patches that do not come with stock Atmosphere plus ReiNX has more patches than Atmosphere.
I mean you shouldn't really be booting older versions of Atmosphere in the first place. Update Atmosphere then see if the issues persist because I'm pretty sure Atmosphere is the one at fault here, not Hekate.

Have you tried booting the game in Airplane Mode?

  1. Without piracy patches, you cannot install pirated content (this is why I prefer the term piracy patches over signature patches since it delivers the message better as well as the fact that there are different types of patches such as ES, fs_nosigchk, ACID, etc.)
  2. These are patches applied by the CFW to the system. An example of patches applied this way are piracy patches
  3. If you aren't using the nogc patch, you should be able to dump your cartridge
I use SX OS, hekate 4.6, and a version of atmosphere that I forgot what version it was. I'm sorry. I'm guessing the version of atmosphere I had was outdated and needed to be update for the 7.0.0 update.

Probably an outdated CFW build as support for firmware 7.X was added in Hekate V4.8

Please help.

My switch is new and has never been only. Just started it up and tested a game quickly in airplane mode. Base firmware is 4.1.0.

I was making a backup following the guide in the "Backup/Restore your Nand + Get your biskeys+tseckeys+keys.txt Guide" and the "sdsetup" guide. I used hekate 4.9.1 since I thought I should use the latest.

It seems I was required to hold down vol- when injecting because it booted straight into Atmosphere. Rather than press a button 3 times to fully start the OS I switched off the console. I then injected holding vol- and then made the backups recommended in your guide.

1. How much damage have I done? How clean is my backup? Is there anything I can do?
2. There is also a small chance I booted into the original firmware when restarting. I am not 100% sure. How much additional damage would this have done?

I stuck with AMS 0.8.1 and firmware 6.2.0 because it just worked and there was nothing I wanted to update for. But that changed with the Smash update the other day. So after upgrading to AMS 0.8.7 I was able to boot fine with hekate_caer_4.9.1.bin. Then installed 7.0.1 with ChoiDujourNX with AutoRCM on and everything seems to be fine, including installation over USB with the old adubbz tinfoil. I wonder when games requiring 8.x.x start becoming a thing.

2 things:
  1. An unpatched unit relies on Fusee Gelee which is a hardware exploit aka not software aka firmware has no effect on your ability to hack the console. CFW is a different story as these are firmware-dependent as they are designed to either replace or patch certain aspects of every available firmware at the time. So for future reference, even if Nintendo releases firmware 20.0, you can still use CFW on your unpatched Switch as long as CFW supports that firmware
  2. Even though you are presently on firmware 8.0, you can still use Deja Vu if you downgrade your firmware to 7.X or below. 8.0 shares the same fuse count as 7.X so even if your fuse count matches that of firmware 7.X, you can still downgrade although a lower fuse count would be more ideal as lower firmwares will be getting Deja Vu sooner.

I ran some updates for Smash Ultimate and now I'm getting an error saying the DLC is unplayable. It does let me start the game afterwards, though. Any idea how to uninstall the problem DLC or get rid of the nag message?
Firmware? Also what updates for Smash did you install? And did you install all or some of the DLC? Lastly, CFW?

Hello,

sorry it's my first venturing here since been offered a Switch that happens to be in v3.0 and hackable, so I'll ask lots of questions!

1/ Can I upgrade directly from 3 to 7 the OS?
a/Using "choixdujournx" I can basically do that without burning any fuse, meaning that I can rollback (up to v3) if I want later, right?
b/Is any version able to launch homebrews? Or is it locked to specific versions only?
2/ If I understand well, emunand is copying the OS to an sdcard (or elsewhere) in order to launch the copy ?
a/Can I play online games on emunand? If so, is there a ban risk?
b/Are emunand tweaks and parameters saved or is it read only?
c/Can I have an emunand version different from the system? (ex : sys at 3.0 and emunand at 6.2)
d/What is recommended, using emunand as a separate partition in sdcard, or a file in the sdcard?

3/ I don't want to use the jig every time to boot on CFW (SXOS probably), so I want to use the auto-crm feature : is that a known modification that makes the switch banned online or is it safe to keep it?

4/ What are the recommended precaution before doing anything? Saving/backuping stuff from untouched switch?

5/Is it still recommended to only use FAT32 sdcard instead of exFAT?
a/Is there any possibility of supporting ntfs or ext2 in the future by CFW?

First off, thank you for using numbering :D Makes it a whole lot easier for me to answer! Anyways...
  1. Yes although one thing you should be aware of is when you update from a firmware below 4.0 to a firmware above 4.0, your cartridge slot will become irreversibly updated. The impact of this is that you won't be able to use cartridges on firmwares below 4.0 as well as utilize any exploits involving the cartridge slot on those same firmware versions. There are ways of blocking it which will depend on what you use but regardless of whether or not you want to prevent your slot from being updated or not, updating without burning fuses ensures you will be able to downgrade back to 3.0 in case a better exploit is released for lower firmwares. And all firmwares support homebrew since the exploit being used is hardware-based, not software-based meaning firmware is irrelevant
  2. Yes, EmuNAND is a copy of your OS (or eMMC to be super specific) and launching it from another location. Generally, people use SysNAND for playing online as that is less risky in comparison to EmuNAND since SysNAND is unmodified while EmuNAND is technically a slightly modified SysNAND. Not sure what you mean by tweaks or parameters but the whole purpose to EmuNAND is to have a separate firmware from SysNAND. If an exploit works on a certain firmware, such as Gateway, then the only way to update without losing the exploit is by utilizing EmuNAND as SysNAND will need to remain on that certain firmware in order to launch the exploit. EmuNAND as a separate partition is the least detectable form but it is the hardest to migrate to another SD card while the file on the SD card is easier to move from card to card but is logically more detectable than the partition method.
  3. No one has been banned for only using AutoRCM ever since it has been released. It is reasonable to assume this modification is safe from a banning perspective
  4. Made a backup of your boot0/boot1 as well as your eMMC raw GPP aka your NAND. Since the eMMC raw GPP is around 29 GB due to pre-allocated empty space, you can dump eMMC SYS instead if you want a smaller but just as effective NAND backup. Be aware though that eMMC SYS does not contain your save data or installed content; that is all saved in the eMMC USER portion. Also in case it wasn't clear, the eMMC raw GPP is comprised of the eMMC SYS and eMMC USER
  5. There is no reason to use exFAT on the Switch anymore as there are workarounds for every type of >4 GB file that you would use on the Switch (USB install, split files, etc.) There is also no one working on adding support for other file systems for the Switch although from a hypothetical standpoint, it is technically possible to add

Thanks for answering me, I'm kinda lost with all the acronyms as I'm new to all of this :)

1-Yes although one thing you should be aware of is when you update from a firmware below 4.0 to a firmware above 4.0, your cartridge slot will become irreversibly updated. The impact of this is that you won't be able to use cartridges on firmwares below 4.0 as well as utilize any exploits involving the cartridge slot on those same firmware versions. And all firmwares support homebrew since the exploit being used is hardware-based, not software-based meaning firmware is irrelevant
1/Alright, is there any consequence of not updating the cartdridge like known malfunction or corruption with later system version?

2-Yes, EmuNAND is a copy of your OS (or eMMC to be super specific) and launching it from another location. EmuNAND as a separate partition is the least detectable form but it is the hardest to migrate to another SD card while the file on the SD card is easier to move from card to card but is logically more detectable than the partition method.
2/So technically I can keep my sysNAND to v3 and have my emuNAND set to v7? Also I suppose that using emuNAND in the Internet is risky then?

3-No one has been banned for only using AutoRCM ever since it has been released. It is reasonable to assume this modification is safe from a banning perspective
3/Alright, good.

4-Made a backup of your boot0/boot1 as well as your eMMC raw GPP aka your NAND.
4/Alright, so basically if I do that in case of any problem I can restore that to make my system as good as freshly installed?

5-There is no reason to use exFAT on the Switch anymore as there are workarounds for every type of >4 GB file that you would use on the Switch (USB install, split files, etc.) There is also no one working on adding support for other file systems for the Switch although from a hypothetical standpoint, it is technically possible to add
5/Do you have a link explaining all these workarounds?
