Ten more games for the SEGA Genesis Mini's lineup revealed

ZyQfwYy.png

The Sega Genesis Mini has been in the works for a while now, with details about the throwback console being fairly limited until last month, where we were told that it would offer 40 different classic games and would finally launch on September 19th. Today, we've received a new tidbit of information that reveals ten more titles for the Genesis Mini's lineup. Those confirmed titles are:

  • Earthworm Jim
  • Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
  • World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck
  • Contra: Hard Corps
  • Thunder Force 3
  • Super Fantasy Zone
  • Streets of Rage 2
  • Landstalker
  • Shinobi 3
  • Sonic 2

That means we've seen exactly half of what the upcoming small console will have to offer, with the remaining 20 games to be shown in the coming months. There are plenty of classics to choose from, and if you've forgotten what those previous ten were, they're listed below:

  • Sonic 1
  • Ecco the Dolphin
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • Comix Zone
  • Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
  • Shining Force
  • Castlevania: Bloodlines
  • Space Harrier 2
  • ToeJam and Earl
  • Altered Beast

What do you think? Are you going to buy one when it launches later this fall? Or do you prefer to play your classic games on something like the Analogue Sg or the original hardware?

Honestly, so far the announced games are good. I might actually pick one up.

Do you think this will make alot of money? I think it will due to classic controls, the classic style and gameplay of it. But if its anything like the PS1 Mini then it will be a complete failure.

How come? I mean...I kinda see what you mean but some people like to play it how it was played back then
your playing emulated version of the games with a genesis controller, the switch ps4 and such collection released like 4 months ago also play this same games emulated(porbably even the same emulator) and you can just buy a genesis usb controller and you got the same experience since all current consoles support hid controllers now so any genesis usbpad will work.

They really should avoid putting most of the same games they have on the sega classic collection for steam/ps4/xbox/ switch

so everyone owns sega classic collection?

this device is just for pure nostalgia, without the classics it will be pretty shit.

i mean if 90% of the games are the same people will just say meh i got those games on ps4/switch/whatever collection released afew months ago. there have been countless sega clones even some that could actually read original mega drive cartridges and they never sold well and they all had classics and megadrive controller and such.

How do you know it'll be emulated? While the mini consoles are now the new hit thing in gaming you never know what the specs will be.

Because it just seems redundant. There is so many sega collections and most of them feature the same games 3X over. PS2, psp, ps3, ps4, and I'm sure enough people have access to these collections already. Having more games from various other companies help add to the appeal. Capcom and namco have some nice exclusive games like Mega man Wily Wars, Rolling thunder, Marvel Land. What about the other sega neglected games like Pulse Man and Monster World IV? There is more than having 17 different systems to play sonic one and 2 on, and NOT including sonic 3. :ninja:

You can have nostalgia, but there is no harm in adding some rarities. Snes added star fox 2 to the nes classic, that sure made a impression. No harm in adding games that's hasn't seen a re-release in ages. Part of buying compilations can be knowing games you are going to like and playing new ones you may not have heard of before. That's how I discovered beyond oasis was fun. :)

I wish it came with a tiny Mega CD addon for the bottom side. I think that would look amazing.

That I would love. I’d like a full mini setup I could sit next to my Mega Drive/Mega CD/32X combo. It’d be like father and son :D
