EA and Respawn reveal new single player Star Wars game, Jedi Fallen Order, launches later this year

EA is finally ready to give us a new Star Wars game, in the form of Jedi: Fallen Order, a third person action adventure game that will be developed by Respawn Entertainment, the team behind this year's wildly popular Apex Legends. Unlike that game, however, Fallen Order will be an entirely single player title that features absolutely no microtransactions, which was a major complaint regarding EA's last Star Wars game, Battlefront II. The story will take place shortly after Star Wars: Episode III, and stars a Padawan named Cal Kestis, a Jedi who has been branded as a traitor, and is on the run. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has a release date targeted for this holiday season, November 15th, and will be available on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.

Gave me chills, this looks amazing.

I find it hard to believe that EA would release a AAA game these days without micro transactions in some way, will be interesting to hear why they’re doing this e.g. Disney forcing them.
Respawn is the only developer so far that EA has learned to stay hands-off with. EA wasn't involved at all with the development of Apex Legends, either. Which is why it's actually a good game and wasn't rushed.

No microtransactions AT ALL??!!

I'll bet when the game releases, it'll only have the first 1/3 of the story and then you'll have to wait to buy the rest 2/3 as DLC (if it even releases at all).

This is EA we're talking about after all.

Well then let's hope that will be the case...Cause I sure would not like to see EA mess this up either.

Edit: Just read the article...EA did not say they won't lock content behind DLC wall though...They only said no microtransactions/loot boxes.

EA. Man. Poor Star Wars. I'm a big fan of the original and the prequels, but nowadays everything has gone downhill.

I miss the good Star Wars games, a shame that EA still has the rights.

They are going to drop the ball again. They are EA.

*sigh*

I'm about as excited for this game, as I am for the next Star Wars movie, lol.

It's made by EA, my hopes aren't set high. They're going to fuck with the game somehow, I just know it. I look forward to when the EA/Star Wars license expires, and hope Disney gives the IP to a competent studio.

Remember when Old Republic had these kinds of trailers only to suck on gameplay? Those were the bad old days, and with this, it might return again.
But I loved KotOR's gameplay. Real-time pause-based combat is great, which is why IMO Dragon Age: Origins was the last great game from Bioware before EA sucked out their soul.

In all honesty, I haven't been a fan of KotOR that much, I did played it for a few but it never stuck. That pausing was quite weird.

Oh wait, this is not Stark Trek, isn't? This is Trek Wars? Anyway, microtransations probably will be added later like it happened to one of the Star Wars Battlefront games.

Do NOT walk into their trap otherwise you may end up like him:

It works well with party-based RPGs because you can pause and queue up multiple commands for each party member, rather than choosing their actions one at a time as you would do with a JRPG. It's not everybody's cup of tea, of course, and that's fine.
