Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Reincarnation Translation Toolkit

We over at the Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Reincarnation Patch Team have heard many people ask for tools and such to help translate Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (using our patch as a base) into different langauges, so we're providing text translation tools for anyone who is interested in starting a translation project, as well as any support for technical information on the game.

About:
This will allow you to create a translation project, using the edited Reincarnation script as a base, as well as make a patch that will integrate into our patcher for the game (further instructions included in the download below)

FAQ:

Q: What can be edited with this?
A: Text only for the time being, if any images are required, we'll look into it, as the process is very hard for image editing on Wii U currently.
However, 99% of the games text will be editable this way, with only the menu options being images.

Q: I want to translate the game into X langauge, is it possible?
A: Currently TMS #FE only supports some Latin based langauges, such as Enlgish, French, Spanish and German. As such, Cryllic, Korean and other langauges are a no go currently. However Chinese can be accomplished using the Japanese version as a base.
You can see a full list of all characters supported by the game here: http://i.imgur.com/vGW7MPO.png
If the Wii U font format is cracked, we might be able to add more in as a catch all.

Q: I broke something text related and don't know what to do!
A: You can restore the file from the included Archive, or if you don't want to lose work, just compare the file to the original and restore it by hand.

Through the sample files and software provided by you, many games have been successfully translated. thank you very much

Now I encounter a problem, the game's main title picture not found

Located at \ content \ Pack \ pack_030_etc \ Interface \ titletitle_logo.gtx is the caption image, but this file is not called when the game is running.

Has anyone successfully replaced this resource?

Hello,

first i would like to thank you for all the tools you have made available, they have been very useful for me to translate the game.

Now, I have one last problem, unfortunately.
I was able to translate all the texts of the pack_031_message using the tools available as well as the texts of the pack_030_etc by editing the images (there also thank you for the tool: repack_etc).
So I could translate 99.99% of the game but I still have the missing 0.1%.

In fact, it is about the texts located under the button A when you want interact with something (Check, Enter, To Map, ....), special messages which are displayed before the beginning of the battle ( First Strike !, Savage Ennemy Encounter, ...) and small texts in the bubbles above the NPC (Request, Side).
I have attached images in case that what I am talking about is not clear.

I tried to find where these missing texts could be located since they are neither in pack_031_message, nor in pack_030_etc,
and by interchanging the different cpk files of the US / EUR version with the JAP version to see which one was changing these texts, it seems that it is the file: pack_020_effect.

But I have several problems, first I want to emphasize that I am a pure noob and I know nothing about hacking and all these things, and without your tools I could not have done anything; and that's all my problem since the files contained in pack_020_effect are PTCL files, so different from those that I could modify with the tools at my disposal. Moreover even if I knew how to modify them I would not know how to repack the files in cpk.

So for summary, does anyone know how to edit these PTCL files and could help me / provide me with the tools to modify these ultimate words.
Since what I have done so far, I would say that normally it should be images to edit like the GTX files of the pack_030_etc, but can there be GTX files in PTCL files?

Thank you for taking the time to read me.
I hope that someone could help me.

Ps: sorry for my english!

@p-janon all of those are gtx textures that are in the interface folder inside the pack_30_etc.cpk IIRC.
you have to use texconv2 to convert them to a workable format and then back to gtx.

No, all GTX files in this folder are already modified (for example, look at the contextual2.png image I attached, the "scene" was replaced by "lieu" and the "Enemy Radar" by "Infos Ennemis") and what I am talking about does not belong to it.

As I said:
I tried to find where these missing texts could be located since they are neither in pack_031_message, nor in pack_030_etc,
and by interchanging the different cpk files of the US / EUR version with the JAP version to see which one was changing these texts, it seems that it is the file: pack_020_effect.

It's clearly in: pack_020_effect

Located the files to be modified, it's a big word... There are 1695 files in the pack_20_effect and I have no idea of which contain the words to modify.

I may be able to find them by swapping some between the US / EUR and JAP but as I do not have a tool to repack the cpk, I can not even do that.

It would be possible to have a tool that does that as you did for the pack_30_etc?

Oh, one more thing, that is not very serious and that no one seems to have noticed and that seems to be present even in the unmodified version of the game, but there seems to be a bug with the "sort" in alphabetical order (for Items, Skills, Side Stories). It does not work correctly at all.

Good news, I found a way to open ptcl files!

It's with the Switch Toolbox tool from KillzXGaming. It allows to display the textures and to export them (in dds files, so easy to modify).
Unfortunately, for the moment, it does not allow to reinject them in the ptcl file (maybe it is expected later as the tool is still in the experimental phase, but I do not know where to go to ask KillzXGaming).

Regarding my request for a tool to repack the pack_20_effect ...
By opening the ptcl files, I found in 6 of them textures with photos of the heroines in swimsuits. So I guess this tool should already exist since the reincarnation patch team probably had to swap these ptcl files with the Japanese version.

It would be possible to share it please, I would really appreciate it.

Otherwise for those who want to know the ptcl files needed for a translation, here is the list:

- etc_encnt_a01
- ev_m4116_04_1
- ev_m4116_04_2
- ev_m4116_04_3
- ev_s1006_a_14_1
- ev_s1007_b_11_1
- ev_s1009_a_11_1
- map_0067
- map_0086
- map_0087
- map_0088
- map_0089
- map_0090
- map_0091
- map_0092
- map_0093
- map_0094
- map_0095
- map_0188
- map_0189
- map_0190
- map_0191
- map_0192
- map_0193

Iirc, those files were replaced directly. Like the entire ptcl. So at the moment there is no ptcl tool. However, that doesn't mean one can't be created.

Head on over to the Kuriimu thread and maybe join our discord. We'll see if we can do something about these files. We're pretty busy though, so no promises. XD

You already have the tool to repack cpk files (or else you wouldn't be able to make the cpk file with all the text), you only lack the pack_20_effect csv and the command line to build it.

I can hand you the csv and a bat file when I get near my pc.

EDIT: as promised.

Yes, I may have expressed it badly, but I suspected you had just replaced the ptcl files.
In fact I was just talking about the tool for repacking the pack_020_effect cpk.

But it's good, Sakitoshi gave me the tool (thanks to him).

Thanks for the help proposal anyway.
I'm also going to see the Kuriimu thread I missed, thanks for the information.

Great, thank you again Sakitoshi!

So, now, all that is missing is the intermediate step to finalize all that. ^^

Reinject the modified texture into the ptcl file. I think it will be implemented in the KillZGaming Switch Toolbox because the "replace" command is present but gray and unusable for the moment, I will follow that and continue to look for a way to finalize all that. :)

PS: Sorry again for my poor english!

A small message to say that I managed to reinject the dds modified in the ptcl file!
I have attached some pictures to show you what it gives.

Sans titre686.png Sans titre6896.png Sans titre68.png Sans titre68967.png Sans titre956.png Sans titre6896789.png

For those who are interested here is how to do.
So I used Switch Toolbox to export the textures, then I modified the dds file (I personally use photoshop and paint.net) and then I just replace the original textures with the ones I modified (with Switch Toolbox).

You can find the tool here: https://github.com/KillzXGaming/Switch-Toolbox/releases
It is still experimental but it can already do what I explained above.

Once the ptcl files are modified, you will have to repack the pack_20_effect.cpk, which you can do easily using to the tool provided by Sakitoshi.
