Hi guys,

I have an SX OS Pro dongle and license and a brand new Switch (only turned on once). I upgraded to 7.0.1 because I wanted to play online and was prepared to wait for the STABLE version (I don't mess with betas) of SX OS 2.6.1. However, as you all know, the website issues and lack of updates have me worried, so I'm exploring my other options. Hence me coming to you sages for advice.

I MUST be certain that I won't be banned from online (at least as certain as possible), which is why I went with SX OS for emunand. I also have only downloaded XCI files. I don't care if I use NSP or XCI, just that I use the one that is less likely to result in a ban, hence XCI (from my knowledge). I plan to always have airplane mode on when playing on CFW. I want my normal firmware to be the latest version so I can always play online when not on CFW. I don't care about hard drive access since I have plenty of space on my microSD.

Is there an alternative for me? Or must I wait for Team Xecutor to get there house together?

I'm likely not the best person to answer since I went a few months without using my Switch but I have started using it again for the last 3 weeks.

1. XCI Loading
As far as I'm aware, not only do other CFW not support this but likely never will. Apparently SX OS uses keys that are illegal. SX OS is the only one that currently supports XCI. Others require NSP's

2. XCI vs. NSP Regarding Ban
A lot of SX OS users were saying that they used XCI's to avoid a ban. This was months ago tho so I'm not sure if this is still thought of and it wasn't really considered proven. INSTALLING A NSP WILL GET YOU BANNED!

3. EmuNAND
This is only supported by SX OS at the moment so you wont find that in another CFW right now. This also mean that you only have one firmware version to use so since you are on 7.0.1, your CFW will also be on it.

4. Getting Banned
Apparently just booting CFW can get you banned. This means that the moment you connect to Nindy servers, you will likely be flagged and eventually banned. The best way to avoid a ban would be to backup your NAND before you use CFW and restore it before you connect to the servers again. I'm not sure about other peoples time on this but for me, it takes an hour and a half each making it 3 hours total. Not sure if you are up to doing that. I don't believe using programs like the one to backup your NAND counts as CFW since the switch is still in RCM Mode when they are running but please don't take me at my word on that because I'm really not sure.

When I started modding my switch, I used ReiNX. This was sometime mid last year. When SX OS added EmuNAND and USB support, I hoped over to them. If you are interested in better homebrew support, ReiNX is great. If you want to be the pirate king, SX OS is technically better because of XCI support and USB loading but there are ways around XCI files like converting it to NSP and I think some NSP installers can also install XCI's but you want be able to play the XCI directly. Hope this was helpful.

use kosmos.

oh god no~~ no support for acid patches, too many other install bugs from reading in the forums on here.. go native atmos instead of kosmos if you're going to use a different CFW.

Not quite sure what LucidIllusion's problems are? SX OS works with current Nintendo firmware, still has emuNAND / USB support / XCI mounting- so what's the actual issue for now?

You shouldn't worry too much about the beta status of their latest release. They call it a beta just to cover their a$$es in case there are bugs. Might be a long time before a stable release, anyway. If online play (and not getting banned) is important to you, you probably shouldn't even fool around with any CFW. But if you must have your cake and eat it too, then people have had some success with running emunand on SXOS for CFW, and playing online on sysnand after a reboot. Your mileage may vary.
