Hardware Possible New 2DS XL codename meanings

I was browsing the internet looking at nintendo console codenames and stuff when I thought about the New 2DS XL's codename (JAN) and what it could be.
So far I have come up with one.
And that is Project January.
Pretty strange but it is a possible meaning.

quite hard to make something out of it... it could even be japonese...

but if i had to guess what it means, i'd say "Just Another reason to spend moNey"

Jan is just part of the product code it means nothing. Here are all of Nintendo's project names

With names like Twilight it could just as easily be Janus or Jupiter or something.

I mean what does Citrus have to do with a 3DS.

I'm 99% sure it means January, thought that when I first saw the name in summer 2017, and haven't thought of any thing else it could mean

I bought my n2ds day one, and it said it was manufactured in January

that's not exactly what i meant...
it could easily be an abbreviation of sorts (e.g. CTR=Citra)
