Has anyone made a mashup of full graphics mod, text mod includes the skips, mini games mod, summon and magic mod, full screen battles like ff13 and fan made ost for whole game.

Thats all i want just a revamp of the whole game unlike the one im playing with missing text speeches and no Vincent.

Making progress!

@MrEffler22 bought a second Switch and I walked him through hacking it just so he could test Omnislash.

Just a head's up; everyone here should probably look at forums.qhimm.com since they've been the premiere site for FF VII mods for ~20 years now.

Also, here are a two mods I converted for Switch because they're hidden behind installers. Anxious Heart (which I saw someone else did, I included all tracks it can install so you can mix and match), and Beacause (a part of Reunion, specifically the retranslation; I'm eventually going to try and move all of Reunion over, but no guarantees)

Does your Beacause have issues with the text not fitting in the dialog boxes? I tried installing reunion and it would just not show some words.

I finally got 7th heaven working on PC. I was wondering if this can somehow make obtaining files for Switch mods easier. I see there's an ability to extract all the individual files from an iro, but they have to be packed back into the game files like lgp or bin or whatever to work with the switch, right?

Open 7th Heaven and click the Workshop menu item at the top and IRO Creation Tool. There is an unpack option there.

Yeah I got that far. But I'm assuming I can't just dump the files like .tex and .hrc into layeredfs, don't they have to be packed back into char.lgp or whatever?

Yes, some edits to some scenes/the exe will be necessary. I personally don't care enough to do them myself, so have fun guys.

From what I've seen this Beacause works better, except for yes/no dialog choices. The window is pushed off the top left of the screen so you can't see everything. Otherwise the spacing seems fine.

BTW the answer to my question was "ULGP"

This is really cool. If anyone is interested I was also able to transfer my steam save across to the switch too with what looks like no issues. Pretty new to this stuff so took me a while to figure out, I'm sure there are easier ways but I couldn't find anything online so hopefully this helps someone else:
  1. Played switch version until I could save
  2. saved in game, quit
  3. Backed up my switch save in Edizon (guess checkpoint and similar will work too?)
  4. Overwrote the edizon save with my pc save file 'save00.ff7' (renamed to 'ff7slot00' to match the edizon save)
  5. In Edizon restored my backup.
This seems to have worked fine and now playing with Beacause, some graphics mods, and the 3x speed up feature of the switch port. Only noticed off screen text when there are options to choose so far but can at least use the switch for grinding, chocobo racing...etc. on the go since transferring saves back and forth is so easy.

Yeah, I didn't go the route of "install Reunion and move the files over to the Switch". I'm going through the reunion installer bit by bit and manually applying mods to the Switch files. Most things are identical to the PC release, but not all of them. For example, most .exe mods won't work right off the bat, since the offsets are different, the Switch .exe has a lot of whitespace removed. Shouldn't be a lot of work, since you can just search for patterns instead of offsets (and some .exe mods do just that); but it's an issue people don't seem to be totally aware of.

Making your own custom videos is also pretty easy. Convert them to MP4 with the AAC audio codec, 128 kbps. Then give them a matching filename to the original video (for example, the opening scene with Aerith when you do New Game is opening.mp4). Put them in \ff7\workingdir\data\movies in the romfs directory, and they should work. All movies go in this folder EXCEPT ending2.mp4 and jenova_e.mp4. Those go in \ff7\workingdir\data\lang-en\movies.

For battle scene textures... these days everyone is distributing PNG files to go with Aali driver/ 7th heaven. These files are formatted STAGE##_T##_00.png. They have to be turned into tex and packed into battle.lgp to work with the Switch. Using Iran Textool will convert them to TEX files of the same name with no file extension. Dropping those into your battle.lgp will not work though, because the game has the filenames encoded alphabetically, starting from the file name "ohac".

I couldn't find a tool to rename the resulting TEX files to the alphabetical codes, so I generated a batch file from excel to do it for me. It is set up assuming you are using the program ULGP to pack the files into battle.lgp for use in the Switch version. Here's instructions for converting PNG files and adding the results to battle.lgp using this batch file;

1. Find a directory, stick ULGP there, this rename.txt I've attached, the battle.lgp file you want to add to, and an empty folder "battle"
2. Run Textool, in the upper section named "battle" use the source selection box to select all the PNG you want.
3. Select the destination directory as your battle folder, choose import tex from png
4. Rename (heh) rename.txt to rename.bat and run it. This will change all the STAGE##_T##_00 un-labeled TEX files in the battle folder to 4-letter alphabetical code.
5. go to command prompt, get to that folder, and type "ulgp battle", this will add all files in battle folder into battle.lgp
6. copy battle.lgp to workingdir/data/battle on your switch

As mentioned there's stricter memory limits on the Switch so don't expect the bigger texture packs to work without resizing them first! I used flexxi for a quick, open source batch resizer for PNG. It lets you easily set a max width and height and keep the aspect ratio. There's probably some better quality programs out there though. 512x512 max is working for me so far but you might be able to push it further.

Gambia, The
nice thx!

but u can also use the avalanche 1k battle textures and u do not need to rename. but maybe we can get better quality with higher resolution pngs that we can resize.

i can run 717p but only with the orginal switch .exe
with NT or and other .exe it do crash with a resolution higher as 512p mutch faster yes.

we need any that can better mod the switch .exe
anything isnt good,or deletet the pasing is with the modded .exes also bader u can see it if u are in the open world
run in a circle and compare the .exe files with the stutters in the background

The 1K Avalnche Arisen on Nexus is .PNG files, it should need converting. If you picked up a pre-converted one somewhere then yeah, you don't need this process. If you got PNG files to work directly with the switch please do tell.
