@eyeliner @Ryft has already made one. And we are putting together a switch modding team. For anyone interested in wanting to join add us on discord. My team has already remade the entire game over a 7yr time span now we are looking to convert that project to the switch.

Finally made it back to the mines where you get source points using just the NT mod and no other mod present, and I can confirm that source points gained via the rank up/Mr. Smile system is broken. You do NOT get 5 + bonus sources, and each source you DO get only gives 1 stat point. Without the rank up system working, the game gets exponentially more difficult as you are now effectively stuck without a way to level up. @cottonMOUSE you may want to put up a disclaimer, unless it somehow is working as intended for you!

This behavior is apparently consistent with an unpatched .exe on the PC version. It takes an .exe patch to bump up the source bonuses to +5. So that may not work on the Switch version at all.

Apparently older versions of new threat were written around +1 bonuses and didn't need exe modification, might be some work to figure out how to update the latest version with that method.

If you guys can get ahold of a modified FF7.exe from patch 1.02 with the sources patched, copy it to your SD card under your FF7 romfs in the resources/ff7_1.02/ folder and rename it ff7_en with NO file extension and see if that works.

I used the "emergency" steam ff7_en.exe file included in the qhimm mod's thread. It's supposed to be the exe patched with the changes. I overwrote the one you included, was the same file size. Sources are still giving me 1 stat point instead of 5.

Not sure if you were asking us to do something different, I figured this is what you did in the first place.

Edit: well the executable is being used for something, but I wonder if it isn't really being "run" in the conveniental sense. Like maybe just used as a reference in places?

I'm wondering if there is evidence that the switch version is even using a windows executable? Just because it's packed in doesn't mean it's doing anything. Or is it even possible this file isn't as easily overwritten by layered FS for some reason?
If the original Switch game contains "0100A5B00BDC6000/romfs/ff7/resources/ff7_1.02/ff7_en" then layeredfs will replace the original ff7_en otherwise it will do nothing. layeredfs has priority, it will take over whatever are the original files.

Anyone have luck fixing the Source stat point issue? Which .EXE file should we be replacing, and in what folder? Does the .EXE Rahkeesh mentioned work?

Thanks!

I'm actually not sure if that will fix it. I'm still researching on how the Switch version runs.

Probably the easier thing would be editing the script to give 5x the source point items like older versions did. I don't really understand the file structure at all though, I'm guessing the scripts are packed into some kind of an archive.

This pastebin I found on the qhimm forums has the romfs layout.

I think Vincent / Yuffie are supposed to be non-optional in NT. So how you get them might be a bit different? But it could still be broken.

Regarding to NT, I haven´t reached the world map yet...
Is the loop music bug in world map fixed for you?

Hi guys, is there a chance to share only the chaOS mod?

Here is a link to just the ChaOS mod. It -SHOULD- work... haven't tested it myself but I'm certain it will. Unzip to the root of your SD. If you aren't using Atmosphere, be sure to copy the files accordingly. WARNING: Graphics mods on Switch tend to cause a bit of a framedrop in some places.

I offer no support for this mod and all credit goes to the ChaOS mod team.

I managed to extract the vanilla FF7 Switch version's files, and ran the 1.5 NT patcher on the executable from there. The resulting file has the exact same CRC as the "emergency exe" from NT 1.5. Which implies that the vanilla Switch version exe is likely identical to the official steam release. (It even has a windows icon built in!)

Edit: I tried the reunion .exe installer and it rejected the Switch exe, complaining about the file size being wrong. So maybe they aren't identical?

@cucholix

Nope i have not noticed this yet world map seems the same as ps1 days.
Can you try letting the music plays in world map for about 10 minutes? If the patch is working the music should loop normally, if the patch isn’t working then the music should stop altogether. Also the patch prevents the world map music reset every time you enter to s battle.

The music hasn't stopped completely for me (yet - I was playing for a quite a few hours before I realized source points were broken), but it does reset upon exiting battle.
