The latest game in WayForward's Shantae series has been announced. Revealed by the company in a simple Tweet was 'Shantae 5', which will be a "brand new adventure", and is headed to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and the newly unveiled Apple Arcade. That was all the information that WayForward was willing to divulge, though if the game is launching this year like they claim, more information and footage will no doubt be given soon.

Finally some GOOD news. Hope the apple arcade isn't an indication that this will be an even smaller game than HGH though. Would really like a true metroidvania again like Pirate's Curse.

More Pirate's Curse would be amazing. A little surprise that became one of my favorite 3DS games for quite a while. Thanks for the news, @Chary !

I hope this game is better than the previous one. Not saying that it was bad, but it didn't seem to be much better than previous attempts in terms of fun gameplay. Sure it looks great and has good soundtrack, but for some reason, I wasn't satisfied when I finished the game unlike the Pirate's curse game. :ninja:

I can't even bring myself to finish the crappy Game Boy Color game, though...

The GBC original is frankly the low point of the series. Might've been impressive for the hardware but its extremely obtuse and unforgiving. There's no shame in skipping it entirely.

I mean it was the first game of the series so it should be the low point.

Awesome! I very recently completed the whole series on my Wii U (including the GBC game which I played as a GBA VC injection via Goomba Color) and was hoping for more! Like others before, I'd prefer a more Metroidvania-like attempt in the style of Pirate's Curse over the more action-oriented Half-Genie Hero.

I keep putting off the series because I need to beat RR.
At this point they're making new games faster than I can beat them.
Risky's Revenge is a quicker playthrough than you might think. ;) It's pretty good but you can feel that it's just the first part of a game that was supposed to be released in episode-form. Pirate's Curse completes it, though.

The dungeons were really enjoyable and better than most of Half-Genie Hero's level design. I think the weak points were the slightly convoluted overworld and annoying enemies (mostly due to the GBC's limited controls). It was easy to farm money and stock up on items and weapons, though, so it's not unbeatable.
