Hacking Opinions on this HDD for use with SX OS

I'd like to purchase this hard drive to use with SX OS. It's USB 3.0 and has no external power source. I've read that USB 3.0 may be harmful to the Nintendo Switch and I have no idea on whether or not it matters on how the hard drive obtains its power. Please provide your opinion(s).

Nope not harmful. I do not know where did you read that from but it probably must be that person is using broken wires or a broken hard drive.
It is completely fine to use. I use hard drives myself for XCI loading. Now I'm just waiting on Xortrolls rendition of running games from Hard drive.

I also read that but I am using a hdd with usb 3.0 and I didn’t had any issues yet.

500+ hours using USB HDD on dock and handheld mode. Not an issue just yet.

It'll work great! I also recommend a USB-C Thumbstick for convenience too.
