SX OS 2.6 Beta released: full support for Nintendo Switch firmware 7.x

From Team Xecuter:

This new 2.6 BETA of SX OS adds full support for Nintendo Switch firmware 7.x, including ALL functionality you expect when using our product. We've been pioneering our own unique and proprietary solution for defeating any future firmware protection and we're quite happy with the results so far.

This release is marked as BETA because we changed things drastically under the hood to streamline future firmware updates and some things may inadvertently behave differently.

That does not mean it hasn't been vetted at all, so give it a shot today!

Of course, we haven't been sitting idly behind the scenes either. A lot of our development resources and attention has been dedicated to bringing SX OS to those "unhackable" switches. We are working hard to bring the SX OS experience to all of you who are stuck with an "unhackable" switch. Stay tuned for more news!

"What they are using is a seed decrypted using slot 7. That they not clear."
Does this mean 6.2.1 do contain the keys ? or that seed thing is the same way sept works ?

I'm just saying - having and using the keys is one thing. (not defending any legalities, as I am not an attorney and won't pretend to be one)

Leaking those keys to the public is a complete other thing (also illegal to do in some form/fashion), and that seems to be just fine with this community, and is even praised! .... so long as it makes TX look bad. It's all about that TX Hate Train. CHOO CHOO!!!
Having the key in plain sight is also illegal (cause copyrighted content). Also, doesn't the team use a more obfuscated version of the keys (which in its self is illegal). I'm no lawyer/attorney either.

Also, no? He didn't post screenshots of the key. He simply said it was there and had a decrypter tool so you could see it. Usually, hashes of keys are leaked because they managed to crack a firmware (which should be praised because it's an achievement). Also, it's not just about that. I couldn't care less if it's a paid product. I couldn't care less if it had exclusive features. What I care about is a paid product blatantly stealing from an open source alternative.

I agree, it is an achievement! But why??? So people like you and I can use custom firmware like SX OS and Atmo (and others). Right? And in order to do that we need to use the keys!

So let's not forget the main goal here, and with any video game console modding scene.

I'm not going to sugar coat the license fee thing. I disagree with it too. But, I have no control over that nor do I really care. People can choose what they want to do with their money. That's not my fight to have. I chose to buy it and am happy with my purchase. I can only speak for myself.

I think we can all agree there is no end to this. We could fill hundreds of pages with this argument (and it has probably been over 1000 easily by now).

What do you guys want?

If you don't like TX, then remove all references of Team Xecuter from the forums here. You guys can be happy, and TX people can be happy in the official TX Community Forums. This is like a broken family. Major disagreements and constant bickering and arguing with no solution.

Where does this end? What's the answer? You guys tell me. Team Xecuter is not going to stop doing what TX does. No amount of comments here are going to impact that.

Funny how the goalposts keep moving in the excuses here. It's clear from the Tweet pictures above that these guys don't even fully understand how SXOS works, yet you all just take their word as gospel and paint them as heroes and TX as villians. I find that especially odd since it wasn't a member of TX who burned an exploit for cash. It's also not TX who operates a Discord where things are openly discussed that recently was found to include Federal informant moles. There are benefits to operating the way TX does and that is why they have been around as long as they have.

And who asked you to point out the things that have already been pointed out?

I agree TX and GBAtemp should go their separate ways. TX already has its own forums where SX users can ask for support and praise an update (without getting bombarded with responses). I'm just glad that we settled this maturely and if TX and the temp do go their separate ways. At least we can do so without leaving a bad taste in each other mouths.

Been nice talking to you.

I'm just saying that the post was completely off topic.

The majority of this thread (and a high percentage of posts in other threads) exist only to demonize Team Xecuter and paint the "homebrew" or "open source" solutions as white knights. In that regard, it is totally on topic. You just don't like the contents.

Surprises me how the mods allow the thread to continue with all the TX bashing going on
How is explaining things and telling users why links aren't allowed and facts considered bashing. Gee fanboyism, as long as it isn't your opinon and talking super positively it is automatically considered bashing

It is really not needed. It does not help anyone here. Its just "This is better then that", "They should of done it this way". Like children sooking in a park really. Oh and i see you joined Nov 2018. I have been reading this for over 10 years. I joined in 2007. It needs to stop

It is basically answering people their question why it ain't allowed anymore. No bashing at all. Funny how you all take that as bashing

Does this mean 6.2.1 do contain the keys ? or that seed thing is the same way sept works ?

To actually answer your question as I understand it: 6.2.1 still contains the key, it is obfuscated but it is in fact still being used. 6.2.0 had the key *also* in plaintext after unpacking (and an obfuscated version), which was an erroneous oversight and served no purpose as that key was not used in any capacity much like the remnants of sept still in the code don't do anything.

Due to their vector of attack/key extraction, they currently *have* to hard code some degree of copyrighted material because the system still wants certain keys.

Sept does not contain any copyrighted material, and uses the Switch itself to derive everything necessary. Sept is just an instruction set, basically.
