no sir, straight usb to pc

I've not yet cared to try and use USB, so if I may suggest a different approach, you can indeed just put the nsp on the SD card and install it using GoldLeaf. The app isn't very clear about it, but the file browser can be used to install nsp files, so you could try that. Just remember that for games bigger than 4gb you will run into problems if you are using a fat32 formatted SD card. Formatting your card to exfat will fix that. Alternatively, I believe there are nsp splitters which can split the nsp file for you, but I have no experience with that.

So i tried putting nsp on sd card through pc, opened goldleaf, browse sd card, install, sd card, then tried ignore required firmware yes and no, tried both, and got error both times code 2168-00002 (0x4a8). i am on firmware 7.0.1 and i did put sigpatches in atmosphere. Am i too high on the firmware or just a bad download perhaps. Thanks again for all you guys helping, its really appreciated.

Just to be sure: As of now, if i grab the files from KOSMOS, put them in my SD, load CFW and get a crash for whatever reason, would my Switch reboot to my CFW (hetake probably)?

Instead of using Goldleaf, try USB install with Tinfoil. You can setup USB install with either Fluffy or Aluminum Foil. I personally use Aluminum Foil as it is Python-free but people report success with both. Also, both links contain a build of Tinfoil that you can use.

I believe so.

Is there any way I can dump or backup installed updates and DLC? I think I need keys to do that, AFAIK.
There is Nintendo Switch SD to NSP dumper. Also Goldleaf reportedly has the ability to dump digital content into .NSP format but I am not sure which version it is found in. You can try the latest nightly.

@Draxzelex I've tried to install a game that is less than 4GB in size which my SDCard is formatted to FAT32. I have Tinfoil v0.2.1. Which is in sdcard://switch/tinfoil.nro and it creates a tinfoil folder in the root of my SDCard and inside it a folder called nsp. So logically I placed the game into "sdcard://tinfoil/nsp/game". I booted the switch into CFW and went to tinfoil app and chose install NSP and it recognises the game and when trying installing the game I got an error: Preparing install... Failed to install NSP. Failed to open file system with id @sdcard://tinfoil/nsp/game.nsp error code:0x00299002. Done!

Im really not sure why it won't install. I can install the game over usb but I'd like to install games with a multiple different ways and since the game is less than 4GB I can store it into my SDCard.

EmuNAND support for 7.x was added in SX OS beta 2.6. Most people leave their sysNAND alone and just update the emuNAND to the latest. So that's one way to start. There's a guide or two here on how to set up emuNAND, I'll see if I can find one. For starters, it's really easy to do, iirc. You just turn off the Switch, then insert the dongle and jig, if needed, then hold the Vol + and press the power button. If done correctly, you'll see the SX pre-boot setup menu, and the emuNAND option is on the left. It'll walk you through the process. I believe you'll need at least 30+ GB of space on your card to do so. Not sure if it wipes it. I'm fairly certain you can transfer games and content from sysNAND in the process.

Not familiar with that error. When installing .NSP files, ensure that the name contains no special characters and isn't too long by naming it something simple, make sure you have at least double space wherever you are installing it, try installing on the latest firmware, and try installing it with ReiNX since it has the most patches out of all free CFW.

EDIT: Nevermind, this error happens when you try to normally install a .NSP file with Tinfoil or an outdated version of Goldleaf on 7.X. Either use USB install or use the latest nightly version of Goldleaf. Normal .NSP installation is broken with Tinfoil and older versions of Goldleaf.

Anyone know why a switch on 7.0.1 with atmosphere 0.8.5 randomly reboots to stock?

Would it do anything to do with sleep mode?

I play it on 6.2.0 Install with ignoring updates.

wouldn't let me run it on anything below 7.0.1. I was already updating while typing my last message anyways ^^. Worked out fine, the game is hillarious xD

Do you have Auto RCM Mode switched on??

It may be that your sd card got corrupted and the switch restarts after crashing without Auto RCM.
Try formatting (deep not quick format) and setting up a clean sd card.

Hi. I have recently bought a brand new switch, which I assume is patched. It shipped with firmware 4.1.0 and I have never connected it to the internet since I first turned it on.
I thought it would become hackable if I waited patiently for deja vu hack to be released. but I've stumbled upon this thread saying nintendo is forcing updates before running web applets:
gbatemp.net/threads/important-possible-nintendo-server-changes-to-block-web-applets-from-working.502431/

Since I have never connected my switch to any wifi, I think I should be okay, but on the first post, there is a picture of SciresM saying new units must be updated atleast once out of the box before they can use web applets? Does that mean that my unit is unhackable?

Check Your serial number first to see if it is hackable

so, for now there is no way to hack it, yet. For sure one day it will be. idk if it would be better to rather not update the system though.
Yes I know that. it's hackable via deja vu, currently unreleased
But in the thread I posted, It is mentioned that new switch units can not use auth applet before updating the sysnand atleast once. (atleast to 5.0.x since you can only go up)
So if that's the case, are ipatched switches really hackable with the unpublished exploit?

If you have to update it first, i guess you could go trying updating it from a game cartridge containing the necessary update. otherwise i don't really know about your problem since i didn't have it :( sorry m8
